I sit and look through the scope,
all that I see,
a crusified man,
and the corpses of my enemies.

I have been fighting,
since day one,
got my gun out,
and fired at the sun.

Me and my brothers,
made a pact,
that we'd kill as many guys,
and die as men.

That was 2 years ago,
and I have grown so old,
on the outside my eyes stare cold,
on the inside a hole where my heart beat so bold.

We have all been fighting for a great cause,
its better we then our familes,
I started all of this,
this war,
my war.

I tried to go home but I knew my family wouldnt want to see me,
not true,
I couldnt face what had happened,
I had caused them so much suffering,
when I started this I wanted to prevent their suffering.

My people starve,
I starve with them,
my people fall,
I fall beneith them.

So much fighting,
so much death,
so much hope,
so much dread.

I started this,
two years ago,
drank some wisky with my brothers,
and swore we would die as men.

But as they all died,
and I survived,
I cant help but feel,
that something abandoned us,
when we made that pact,
when they foaght as men,
and died as boys.

Was there anything that you were drawing from? What I mean by this did you have a particular conflict as your point of reference of was tis more a braoder soldiers perspective?

There is a specific "conflict" that inspired me.

You know, when I re-read my poem, I laughed... and cried...

Some things we laugh at becouse they are funny, most things we laugh at becouse they are true.

Its to bad...

Yeah, but the truth is often funny. It's not always bad though.
