Normally I have to leave my neighborhood in the upper hills of northern Manhattan to see a celebrity. Rarely do they come to me. Today, the rules changed and the game will never be the same again.
While on my way downtown with Jen we spotted a large group of people by the subway stop nearest to our house. Many of them we wearing badges or hats that read Law & Order. We peeked around for a second but didn't see anyone that we recognized. It looked like they were just setting up.
However, on my way home a few hours later I noticed that they were actually filming a scene. They even had those chairs with people's names written in cursive on them just to drive the fact home.
I stopped, somewhat ashamed, to gawk for a moment or two and I spotted a rather bored-looking Jesse L. Martin freezing his law-fighting tush off in the freezing snow. Standing opposite him was Dennis Farina, who I was first introduced to by his role in the movie Snatch.
Sadly I did not get to not Christopher Meloni, Mariska Hargitay, Ice-T or Richard Belzer. Hopefully in the ficitious world of Law & Order some particularly heinous sex crimes will happen in that area so I get a chance stare awkwardly at that cast.

This is the second time (that I have noticed, at least) that the L&O franchise has made its delightful way way to Washington Heights. The other time was, I'm pretty sure, a SVU episode where some guy was hiding out and they met him at, like, 169th St. (Which is to say, spitting distance from chez nous.)
Lucky for us, though, there are WAY more episode of Law and Order than there are city blocks in the five boroughs, so they'll be forced to come back our way again.

Personally I'm avoiding the franchise; that way I'm certain to have something to keep me entertained whenever I retire.

Unless you retire right now you'll never see all the episodes between retirement and death. That is, assuming that you don't live to be 238 years old.

Off-Topic kind off-
My friend once met a celebrity and got a letter a week later regarding a law suit (the two are non relation but it made me piss my pants laughing when he told me).

That's a good idea. Too bad I already started watching it.
