This one is even worse. They give you the illusion of it being realtime, as enemies exist on the map with you, but when you attack it's still slow and turnbased, and I spent my time wondering why even when one can always move the character around, they still just stand there and take hits from the enemies. My roommate bought it last night, and my first question was "So, I take it that the short, effeminate, white-haired, scantily clad, sword-wielding male is your main character?" Guess what he said. dry.gif

The voice acting is stilted and awkward to listen to, especially coming from such a high profile developer, and the graphics and performance are below pitiful because it's struggling to run on the PS2. Character development is leached from FFX, with an enormous emphasis on buying "licenses." Essentially, you need to use your experience points to purchase literally every developmental skill you can use with another illusion of getting some sort of choice in how your characters grow, skillwise. Of course, you're limited in what everyone can learn, so you still can't seem to do much, and it's still an Orko-playing game. Oh yeah, you even have to purchase the commands you can give to your allys. Apparently you need a license to ask your character to remember to heal you when you get below 50% hp in this wacky bureaucratic world.

Mediocre at best is my first impression.

Pop quiz, hotshot. Garry Kasparov is coming to kill you, and the only way to change his mind is for you to beat him at chess. What do you do, what do you do?

Abbey, have you gotten around to playing the Fallout games yet? I'd like to see your opinion on that.

No. I think somebody recommended I play it, but I ended up buying the Deus Ex game instead. I didn’t play that one either. There weren’t enough vampires, Jedi’s or elves for it to hold my attention.

I bought the old marrowind a while back and totally dug that - except the moving really slowly part. Everybody says the new one is wicked cool, but its dog sledding season and all my money has been funneling into that. What are the fallout games about, I cant remember?

Basically what it all comes down to is KOTOR, Vampire the Masquerade, and Zelda Ocarina of Time were so fraking awesome, they ruined me for all other games. I used to play SWG, but I just cant put in 12hrs a day to become good at a mmorpg. Plus they ruined that game when they added the jedi holocrons. I ended up spending most of my time buying sexy outfits and dancing on a rooftop for my tauntaun.

As far as moving really slowly in Morrowind, yeah, that gets annoying - but build your Athletics skill and you get to moving much more quickly later in the game.

I haven't had enough time to play video games since August. I really AM going into withdrawal... sad.gif
I am writing about Jm in my signature because apparently it's an effective method of ignoring him.
