Lego is one of those words which is it's own plural, such as fish. There is no "legos". I'd put this in the pet peeves topic, but you know. That involves changing topics.

Like sheep as well.

Finally at last! Just discovered that the scanning application works without HP director. Then I opened two ports I recently found from a working system because that built in incompetent Xtra Pretty firewall did not register all the dropped connections in the log file. After adjusting the permissions to full for the Hp folder directory and registery keys the installer came up on one restart and everything is now working perfect and even the buttons. This time it doesn't use 100% cpu time like it did last time for scanning a document. Could be to do with the blocking of the firewall or permissions.

Actually, Sime, LEGO is one of those brand names with no plural at all--the correct term is 'LEGO Brick.' Therefore, the plural is LEGO Bricks.

Don't ever get in a nitpick war with me, Sime, you'll never win.

DS: You should definitely install your own firewall, and then disable the pitiful Windows XP firewall.

I did but it still blocks out UDP and some TCP traffic.

Gpedit.msc -> Local Computer Policy -> Software Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Network Connections -> Windows Firewall -> Standard Profile

Windows Firewall: Protect all network connections State: Disabled

Firewall options are then disabled but it didn't make any difference unless I manually put in the correct UDP ports. I think snmp 161 was one of them and I couldn't see ports 9220 and 9290 until now.

If I saw all the dropped connections in that log file I would have enabled them. I tried Tiny Personal firewall but it doesn't matter because the dropped connections are dropped before it is even seen.

Good thing now. So pleased it now works on the downstairs computer properly and doesn't take up too all the cpu time. So it's definately more to do with setting the hp directory and registry permissions after installation before hp director can work with the scanner and buttons.

Two things:

I did some research on my inherent condition of not being able to get hang-overs. Turned out that it's been passed on to me via my granddad. His explanation:

"The reason for why we don't get hang-overs, is because... shifty.gif ... is because we're awesome. ph34r.gif"

... alrighty.

And my other granddad was acting like a dick today, cursing and swearing like the sailor he is/was on his gay neighbours, as if they were some goddamned beasts sent straight from hell.

So I told him that I was gay, too. Which I'm not, although I do have a lot of gay friends and obviously like to toy around with this notion, but gee, I'll never forget his expression. biggrin.gif

Went like:

@_x !?

EM: My shiny new laptop is now working and smexy and generally awesomelly awesome!

Although I'm less than impressed with Dells tech support. 50 minutes to tell me "take off the bit on top and push in the monitor cable"? AAARGH!

But laptop is awesome, yes.

My Prof. gave me full marks for a presentation on my assignment, and I didn't even present! ...And it wasn't a mistake!

I love it when group members leave you to present on your own, but in the end they get a nice 0%, whereas you get a perfect. smile.gif

But only when Daft Punk isn't on my playlist. Then everything just gets balls to the walls crazy.
