daniel day lewis? now that would be interesting.
mark hamil would be cool.

A Daniel Day-Lewis Joker... interesting, but highly unlikely given that he's already turned down stuff like Aragorn in Lord of the Rings and I believe he turned down a role in Batman Begins itself.

I hear that it's looking more and more likely that Paul Bettany will play the Joker.

There are only two names that come to mind as the perfect casting for the Joker. I apologize in advance if they have been listed already, I just clicked on the last page here.

1) Crispin Glover - Marty McFly's dad from Back to the Future and the man that played Willard. He's creepy, he's skinny as a twig, and man can he look disturbed. Just watch Willard; you'll see what I mean. He's the perfect choice for me.

2) Paul Bettany - if you haven't seen the new Harrison Ford movie Firewall... don't. laugh.gif Just kidding, it's not that bad and I love me some Harrison Ford, but Paul Bettany is a great bad guy in that. Plus, I heard he was very creepy as that albino guy in DaVinci Code. He, too, is tall and lanky and looks like he could pull off Joker.

For me, Jack Nicholson was good as a character named the Joker in a movie that Tim Burton made and decided to call Batman. tongue.gif The first four bat-films are fun but to me are BINO (Batman in name only). Jack Nicholson made that film as much fun as it was, that's for sure. But he was never the quintessential Joker that we all deserve. And yes, for the record, I do love the first Batman and I own it on VHS and DVD and I have watched it countless times, but Batman Begins hasn't left my multi-disc changer since I bought it and I doubt I'll ever watch Burton's again because Begins is so perfect.

Later guys.

Crispin Glover
or
Willem DaFoe...yeah, I know he was already the Green Goblin, but he would be perfect.

Except DaFoe is too short for the Joker. But then again, so was Jack Nicholson and Keaton's Batman.

Heath Ledger? It's TRUE
Author: Jett
Friday, July 21, 2006 - 8:26 AM, 1:50 PM PACIFIC TIME: I just got back from Comic Con and I’m sitting in a Mexican food joint updating my coverage of the event. So, I check my email and find that I have 1,000 plus emails about Heath Ledger as The Joker.

Really.

Everyone wants to know what I think about it -- why, I really don’t know. But I’ll tell y’all anyway.

I’m down with it.

Why, because I trust Nolan and have no reason to doubt him.

So there y’all have it, my initial reaction. Sure I had my favorite (Lachy Hulme) like everyone else did. And yeah, there’s some “WTF” initially for me. However, methinks that getting the “WTF” thing out of everyone is genius.

Leaking it (and it WAS leaked) right as Comic Con was commencing was f'n brilliant.

And I'll say this, even though I had a "favorite" (WTF do I know about casting?), I've long said that this Joker has to be totally different than anything we've seen in the past, live-action that is.

So, let’s get on board with this and reserve final judgment two years from now…

I usually don't go out on a limb unless I have have something confirmed, and it has been. Heath Ledger will be The Joker. From my BEST source:

"Nolan has been in secret talks with Ledger for some time....The fan favorites like Paul Bettany, Crispin Glover and your fave pick, Lachy Hulme, were just grist for the mill. Ledger will be playing The Joker. The offer was made last night, and it will be a done deal.

There you have it. Heath Ledger is The Joker.

Straight from Batman on Film.

...I'm not sure how to feel about this.
Check out my crappy drawings!

. . . never should have been Mister Freeze. biggrin.gif He would've been a better Bane, but let's just not touch that at all, shall we?

I, myself, have great faith in Nolan and Goyer. They proved they have the right take on Batman with the first movie and that they know the universe and how it works. The movie focused on all the right things, primarily Batman himself. Now, having said that, I think that Heath Ledger will be fine. I believe that they cast him for a reason and it must be a good one. I remember some people didn't think that Christian Bale would be right for Bats but he was so perfect it was scary, to me anyway. smile.gif

My point is, I think that the creative team that currently controls the Batman franchise will do whatever they have to to keep the films going strong and keep the same level of integrity that the first film had. It wouldn't make sense to cast someone that could potentially harm said franchise. I have faith that they cast Heath for more than just the teenage girl factor that he might pull in. I know plenty of girls that don't find him that attractive at all. They like the Gyllenhall, or however you spell his name, or Tobey Macguire. He actually is a pretty talented actor, and he must have tested well for the part because I'm sure they had a lot of interested people. Can't wait for the first trailer.

He was already the Riddler under Schumacher's reign of terror! He can't play a different villain now!
