As far as Lucas writing something like that, it probably would have ended up shabby. Here’s a good solution… let ANYONE ELSE write it. I think my tarantula could have done a better job.

Plus, it would have contradicted the whole attachement thing-y.
But I agree that it would have made the main characters more, uhm, intereresting and likable. In the right scripting/enviroment...

Seriously, though, the jealousy angle, Anakin afraid of losing Padme to the dashing Obi Wan would have made a lot more sense.
Why didn't GL find a top selling romance author to help him with the love scenes between Anakin and Padme, or concoct the love triangle? The dialogue in the typical romance novel is a great, stinking lump of goat cheese, but it is VASTLY better than the great, stinking lump of goat s**t we were served by Mr. Lucas in these movies.
I saw Attack of the Clones on opening day - less than two weeks after sustaining a spinal cord injury. It was my first outing, to see how I would be able to manage a wheelchair in a public place. I distinctly remember the audience snickering through the "love scene". I stage whispered to my brother, during one of the more awkward pauses, "Why doesn't he just take the direct route and say, 'Hey baby, I'd like to jump your bones' if he can't think of what to say?" My brother sprayed Mountain Dew out of his nose, and the guy behind me, who overheard my comment, brayed like a jackass with laughter, causing the whole audience to crack up as well.
Did I mention that I was doped to the gills on pain medication, and even morphine could not improve that gawdawful "romance"?

A lot of things in the prequel trilogy seemed to come along without justification and right out of thin air. It's so sad and disappointing to think that the mythology of Star Wars could have been made deeper and more poignant by these prequels, but the prequels dropped the ball badly and no one was there to pick it up. Some would accuse a full blown love triangle as cliche but it still would have given the characters something more than what they ended up with.
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an obi-wan to go.

single file please.
I have the solution.
Go to obidala.com and enjoy the fan art as well as the fanfiction.
Obviously it circles around Obi-wan and Padme.
It almost boils the blood with anger how simple and awesome
AOTC & ROTS would've been with a love triangle.
And the Visual Dictionary for Eps.III
(at least i think thats where it is) states how Obi-Wan had a little secret love
going on with a fellow jedi.
But she died saving Padme from another one of
Nute Gunrays attempts at revenge.
There!!!! That is the perfect interlude to a love blossom between Padme and Obi.
But no it just couldn't be done.
Oh well the writers on obidala.com
are far better that GL.

That was really good for Lego...
but i didnt see the same connection
between Padme and Obi that u did.
I think there was more of a hint in the scene from ROTS when Obi asks if Anakin is the father.
A little bit of tweeking and that scene could've gone a long way.
Especially because of the scene before
when Anakin seems threatened by the
fact that Obi went to visist Padme.
