QUOTE (AndOne @ Mar 15 2004, 07:30 PM)
I come here to read what people have to say about starwars. I never retort to their outlandish claims since they all seem to be Anti-Starwars Apoligists.

You should really register and contribute. We try to maintain an intelligent discussion in the Star Wars forum regardless of personal opinion. I, personally, like to hear both sides of the argument even if that is a little hard to believe. wink.gif

(I finally found this topic)

MASS email? (after Supes' entry, now I feel a little duped)

But I'm glad I'm here. folks are generally friendly and smart. occasionally brilliant, and that's the stuff I need to carry on. It's like; part Laugh-in wall, part crank yankers, part washington journal and part gene shalit. And it's like fishing also. I'll log on and say- "Damn, no new 'I hate prequel' posts!"

but as for myself, I take the bait. you cast a wide net, Nate.

i first found out about all this when looking to see if there was a Elan Sleezebagano action figure, saw some words that condemned the PT for more reasons other than JJBinx and was impressed that finnally someone else had notice how sucky they were and came to chack it out... sent a few emails, then one day hit the wrong link and ended up here... 600+ posts later and i'm still here.

Thanks, Icey! Now I feel guilty because I only update it very infrequently. Perhaps I will try to get on a better schedule about such things.

Perhaps not.

Just found this little discussion... otherwise I would have responded earlier.

One night, I was bored and looking for something on the internet... anything... that raked the Star Wars prequels over the coals. I guess it was because I was sick of hearing so many clueless people heaping praise on these things.

I found your articles and they were fantastic! Absolutely hilarious...

Then I saw the link to your forum and checked it out. I've never joined a forum before, mainly because they're generally unintelligent slagging sessions between clueless idiots... I think you know what I mean.

One person writes: "I think this."
Next person writes: "You're a f%#@ing..... if you think that."
The first person writes back: "Yeah, well you're a ...."

It's pretty stupid and off-putting.

But this forum is really good. People raise interesting points and there's a lot of interesting discussions. And people on the whole are pretty mature in that no-one makes personal attacks on anyone else, despite the occasional debates.

So I joined up and since then, I've got addicted. It's great when I come home tired from work... I'm too tired to do much and my girlfriend's been so busy with university exams recently so I have a lot of weeknights where I'm looking for things to do... and there's only so many times I can watch Lord of the Rings in a certain period of time.

It's good to have intelligent discussions with people who are really interested in films. I like talking about good and bad movies and asking what makes good movies good and what makes bad movies bad...

It's interesting to think about these sorts of things. I actually find it quite useful because I'm working on a piece of fiction at the moment and it's good to think about what works well in a story and what doesn't. These discussions are very good stimulation for the brain.

But at the same time, it's also great fun. I mean, let's face it. Grilling a movie you don't like is so enjoyable. And I must admit that I enjoy stirring up the occasional 'fights' over the merits of some movies.

Good arguments, as long as they always remain civil, are excellent. I never feel angry in the occasional arguments I get into on these forums - because they're interesting and I think the people I argue with are pretty cool guys anyway so it's never personal.

All in all, Chefelf, you've got a great online community going on here. It's good fun and interesting - and great to chat to so many people with similar interests.

I'm a fan.

Well, once I emailed you when I took that "Be Nate's Girlfriend" quiz. That was a while ago.

But you don't know me. I'm just in love with your mind, man.

God I sound like a scary stalker. unsure.gif

And thanks, Amber-Nichole for complimenting my avatar. Can you tell that the cute kitty is in fact flipping the bird? ohmy.gif
