It does get knocked about, but it didn't stay in the cinema as long as an OT release. Enjoy your DVD.

Another thing, for the uninitiated, one could be forgiven that inROTS, Anakin/Vader does battle between the M&M candy guys and the Burger King. Curse you, Lucas, and your merciless ad whoring! This only encourages all the "winners" who camped out for months before the premiere outside theatres, even the guy who set up camp at the wrong theatre.

Basically, theres only 2 SW films i'd describe as 'great', ESB and RotS.

Two are 'good' (AotC and ANH) and 2 are 'average' (TPM and RotJ).

Oh yeah, and apart from STAR WARS, I'll never give that hack Lucas credit for anything!

Two are 'good' (AotC and ANH) and 2 are 'average' (TPM and RotJ).

I don't know, I feel a film has to be flawless to be great. Like, from start to finish I'm captivated and never once thrown out of the story. ESB, great. RotS - Nooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!! HA! That never gets old.

I think this would be my order: 1) ESB 2)ANH 3)ROTJ

That's about it really. The new ones aren't even on my radar. I admit AOTC and ROTS are watchable and enjoyable, but they have no charm, no soul. No believability in the characters. I need that to enjoy a film over and over.

Other great "flawless movies" - Shawshank Redemption, the Godfather I & II, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Memento, It's a Wonderful Life, American Beauty, Sin City, I could go on....

the three great star wars movies are as follows

Star Wars:It was the first one, and it is the only one i can watch now and feel like a kid again.

THe Empire Strikes back:Probably the best sequel ever, and it brought us "Luke I am your father" there are so many reasons why this movie is great there isnt a point in listing them all because it has been done befere.

REvenge of the sith: it redeemed the prequels, it showed us how anakin fell, and it brought star wars back into pop culture with a huge explosion. It had emotion, feeling, good acting, and the true star wars spirit, which we hadnt seen since RotJ.

THe other three are good movies, nothing special or worthy being called a master piece, but are enjoyable and are still star wars. Remember, not all the movies in a series have to be extraordinary. Examples of sagas:

STar Trek:only the even numbered ones were good
Alien:the third and fourth ones were cool but nothing special
Rocky: the 1st,3rd,and 4th were great, 2nd and 5th were good but not anything special.

I'm glad to hear that is was the highest grossing film in 2005. I did see it six times, after all.

And the reason I saw it six times is because it entertained me. Yes, it has many flaws, but I don't go to a Star Wars movie expecting the acting and script that would be present in an excellent movie such as "Fight Club" or "The Usual Suspects".

The same goes for the OT too. They're entertaining, but also loaded with flaws. The fact that people view the OT on such a high level is quite sad.
