Good morrow, fellow Chefelfers!

I have just logged on to Yahoo! News and found an item that may be humiliating, especially to me:

With the 78th Annual Academy Awards fast approaching on March 5th, Reuters quotes The Hollywood Reporter as saying that Jon Stewart, that expletive deleted who cost Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, and, by extension, yours truly, a shot at Grammy Award glory, will be the show's host!

I don't know at this point what irks me more: sitting through the live show, listening to him gloat about his damned Daily Show --- or the mere knowledge that the Monday after, my Diary of Magecraft blog will provide you with the most in-depth, critical, blow-by-blow account of mine own observations of the live telecast. I know the latter's a challenge, but I am already resigned to go for it!

Anyway, our topic for debate is thus:

What the hell was Gil Cates thinking? Can Jon Stewart handle the Oscars, or will he fall flat on his butt a la Letterman? Post thy predictions here, people. I need them up here by the end of February.

Thank you Otal. To remind everybody, had it not been for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart's America: A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction --- and I further remind you that the damn thing was an audiobook! --- I would have boasted about this ad nauseum.

But noooooooooo!

The Insult Comic Dog got his butt handed to him by a blarsted audiobook! And now, the force responsible for that audiobook has been chosen to host the Oscars! To repeat our question: will Jon Stewart make for a way cool Oscar host, or will he fall flat on his face, as Letterman did of old?

You guys have until one week prior to the telecast itself --- Sunday, March 5th --- to post your assessments on this!

Ah, Master Blackwolf. But Squire Stewart will be playing to his crowd, not to the crown.

He could fall flat on his face, still the reviews en masse will still credit him for a straightforward effort. And willing to hail the cause to the last throw.

So throw ye gauntlet at his arse whilst he be down. I shall count the days until your torrential review.

I saw the comic dog make fun of you and a bunch of diehard fans in a starwars line up.

You were eating a fillet'o fish from MacDonalds. That's the first time I ever saw you!

I really have to go with Stewart on this one, The daily show is undeniably the most trendsetting talent mine of a program since the days before SNL started to perform oral sex for small change.

The Triumph bits on Conan are pretty good, though the Walker clips were better, and I must also side with the brilliant Jon Stuart and his crew with this one, my esteemed wizard. America: The Book, was a delightful piece of historical and political satire as well. It should be required reading in classrooms across the nation.

Also, it's spelled fame, like the David Bowie song.

I know I may seem a tad bitter, folks, but believe me when I tell you that the double dose of Ryan Seacrest at the Red Carpet on Oscar Night for E!, combined with Jon Stewart hosting the show itself will be tantamount to rubbing noses into my ego. And why is this, you ask? Well, long point short, there are those who would tell me me 15 minutes are up. I, for my part, refuse to accept that. (Besides, there are still some of you who want me to make that movie I keep telling you about --- Blackwolf the Dragonmaster's First Movie --- and while it's taking me a while to get the resources, et al, together, I must ask, as I always do, for your patience during this process. It'll be a cold day you-know-where, by Merlin's beard, before I end up as ye flavor of the month!)

Which is to say, New York, I mean to be in thy face for ye foreseeable future! Deal with it!

MB? Milton Bradley? Long standing board game partnership with a constant animosity toward those fiendish Parker Brothers?

Also, no offense, my good wizard, but this isn't really Debate Club material. It's not quite this forum's cup 'o tea, as we tend to attract the particularly articulate (or unarticulate) and passionate politically/sexually/theologically active crowd. You'll get more viewpoints in the Lobby, my friend.

How was that fillet-o-fish? And why didn't you assault the puppeteer who was operating Triumph? That would have made some good television. biggrin.gif

Sincerely yours,
His Holiness, Pope Slade, Grand High Chumble of Leet, KSC. But I refuse to go and list them all of my titles again! I've had enough of that, thank you.

Ya, I'd knock the guy out controlling the dog. His jokes aren't that funny, most of the time they're very instulting in a non-funny way.

During that same segment where I saw you eat the fillet o fish. Triimph went up to some pregnant lady in the Starwars line up. He said along the lines of "when you go through labour it will be the last time you child sees female genetaila" Refering to the fact that the kid will grow up to be a SW nerd.

I thought it was gross. The mother nervously laughed, I'd fucking knock him out if he said that to me.

I think it's more offensive to imply that we nerds are total flops all the time with the ladies. We get lucky too, you damned dog!

If I was still single, I'd shrug at him and say it was the price I paid for being myself, except being me has found me love. But that clip is only funny once, and then it sets in that it's the same joke made over and over and over. Blackwolf: You totally made the whole convention, 'tis true. Except for the aformentioned lack of pummeling.

Ya I didn't even notice that. A line up filled with devout fans just stood there and listened to him insult every single one of them. Calling them nerds was the main theme of the skit.
