Canadian fears of terrorism lower than in U.S., Europe, survey finds
We prefer Democratic presidents, pollster observes
WASHINGTON (AP) - About four in 10 Canadians said they are worried about the threat of a terrorist attack in their country, an Associated Press-Ipsos poll found.
That's considerably lower than terrorism worries in the United States and several countries in Europe, AP-Ipsos polling showed.
Darrell Bricker, president of public affairs polling of Ipsos-Reid in Canada, said: "Our experience with terrorism tends to be on the news and south of the border, not here."
Just over one-half of Canadians in the poll, 53 per cent, said the war in Iraq has increased the threat of terrorism - about the same number who said that about the situation between Israel and the Palestinians.
Two-thirds of Canadians in the poll said they have a negative view of the role President George W. Bush plays in world affairs.
"Canadians know Bush much better than Europeans but they do not particularly like him better," Bricker said.
He said that isn't surprising because former U.S. president "Bill Clinton was more popular with Canadians than either Bush and (Ronald) Reagan wasn't very popular."

If one lesson can be learned from the above article it is this: Canadians are much better than Americans.
