Thinking back now, Mr. Y's work had some major effects on me. Makes me wonder how others think about that...

I guess it all started with 5 Days a Stranger. Whoa. That game really made me shiver. And it somehow reminded me of Nocturnal Illusion, but I was really glad that I didn't have to sleep with every of the house's occupants in order to get out of there this time.

Second, 7 Days a Skeptic. Again: Whoa. It took me almost a week to get through that game, because I couldn't reach the mouse from the corner in which I was sitting while covering my eyes and ears and trying to hide myself. Even after that, I wasn't able to enter a spaceship for at least three months.

And now he's done it again. 1213. Scary how the right use of music and pictures can create such suspense. Although I didn't notice it immediately, no, it came to me only after I was already lying in my bed. I seriously got paranoid then.
There's a tiny, little red lamp on the electric-distributor-thingy in the corner of my bedroom, which shone on one of my computer's cables, thus casting a twisted shadow that somehow looked like a claw. It really freaked me out, so I quickly turned around and clung to my girlfriend - who was very happy for all the attention she suddenly got. Well, long story short, it turned out to be quite an awesome night - but only after I had ensured myself that my girlfriend wouldn't grow some giant claws out of her back all of a sudden.

And I guess it's all thanks to Yahtzee. So, let me get this straight: Hat off, thumbs up - I salute you.
Not only did you make me laugh my head off, but you also made me wet my pants several times, thus raising your status on my surgeon's and laundry's list of 'people to thank once we've earned a million quids'.

Blast it, I guess now I really have to donate some money and get me those special editions...

I thought GOFW was probably the best one so far. Then again i generally prefer RPG's or adventure games that have humerous elements.

I discovered 7DAS while wandering around on abandoniareloaded.com I saw the screen shot, and, it being space, immediately caught my eye. I gave it a try and I immediately loved the game, but kind of pissed off at myself for not playing 5DAS first. I played it immediately afterwards, which cleared up many things, and I then went to fullyramblomatic.com. I simply had to see the person who made these games.

What I didn't expect was a hilariously witty site with many kinds of humor. It was like George Carlin and Douglas Adams put together. I seriously think Yahtzee has the potential to become a comedian, if he wanted to. If not that, definately a comedy novel writer.

My hat is off to you, Ben.

Comedy novel writer, yes most definitly. Allthough stand up comedy is a different thing entierely, its all about how you put yourself across. Can he be funny on the spot or does he have a funny idea and then it takes a couple of hours to make it sound right? All sorts.

I played 7days first. which made 5days even better becouse I got to see what happened and how it happened and who The Welder/John Defoe was.

(edit) BTW, the nightmares in 5days were better becouse they were more symbolic... but the nightmares in 7days scared the shit out of me...

BTW, are there any other games out there similar to 5days or 7days?

He can be funny on the spot. He's done stand-up comedy before, and he's even written about it on the site. I remember reading it quite some time back... Perhaps if you dig around the archives, you can find it. Or perhaps you can click this link.

I think that Yahtzee has had a colossal impact on my life. I had LSL1 when I was young , and I remember enjoying it a lot, so I decided to Google for some point 'n' click adventure games. I found Rob Blanc and the Days series, and it really changed my perspective. I was always interested in programming, so I looked up what Yahtzee used to make his games, and made my own. Adventure games are now a big part of my existence, and I have but Yahtzee to thank.

So, to join in on the praising...

I found Yahtzee through Lance And Eskimo which I found through 8BIT. At the time I was busy writing pretentious horror dreck that wanted to be like Anne Rice but without the homosexuality, which I guess is a slight improvement but nothing everyone who's ever read a book wouldnt think of.

I have to confess that YTOTW and ASFS were the first and only humorous novels I'd ever read. It was shortly after that that I ressurected a ten page long bit of sillyness I crapped out two years ago, changed the perspective, messed with the characters, and started writing. That writing became Glamis The Great, which is currently being worked up by a publisher in Canada. ASFS really had an influence on me while I wrote Glamis though how much of an influence is up to the readers to compare.

Since the demise of L&E I've turned increasingly to FR for my non-comicy humor as it's one of the few websites that still updates much with decent content. I've never really played any of the games since my computer is ass, but the articles always keep me checking in. Yahtzee's review of Animal Crossing also led me into an attempt to illustrate The Island of Dr Moreau with Animal Crossing sprites. I've gotten to page 2 but I've been influenced by the Yahtzeean idea of "Can't be arsed" and so it's not certain when The Animal Crossing of Dr Moreau will be finished.

I first discovered 5 Days a Stranger on a freeware game site called Gamehippo, which had it on the front page. I downloaded it, played it, and the first thing that struck me was that it was the first time I'd ever seen RPG Maker music put to good use, because God knows none of the games made with it ever did. Anyway, I found the various tidbits he put in far more entertaining than the main game itself, which was very entertaining to boot. By which I mean, of course, that the first time I realized what was going on with that painting, I nearly wet myself. Not being incontinent I didn't, but I nearly did, which is the key.


7 Days a Skeptic was listed on the front page a day or two later, so I immediately downloaded it as well.

I couldn't touch my computer again for a week afterwards.

Rather than elaborating, let me just say it was a huge mistake to decide that playing it at night wouldn't make it more scary than it already was. Huge mistake.


After I'd managed to screw my head on straight, I decided to find the website for this Ben Croshaw, this Yahtzee, and find out how he has this strange way with AGS. After spending about half an hour reading through the various features and essays on the site, I decided I had found a kindred spirit. Except he wasn't lazy, and actually made a damn website. Right now, my "website" is a piece of shite I cooked up in less than a minute with Notepad. It uses frames. Yeah. Anyway, it inspired me to new heights!

At least, it inspired me until I realized that playing Gate 88 doesn't count as getting anything done, then I realized that I was just a lazy bastard and I'd better just stick to insulting stupid people rather than try to get anything done.

After I'd convinced myself it wouldn't kill me to see what else this guy has done, I tentatively downloaded Galaxy of Fantabulous Wonderment (No, I haven't played the goddamn Rob Blanc trilogy, and if a single one of you asks me about Odysseus Kent I'm going to strangle you). After I'd maxed out all the upgrades that can be maxed out and gotten ludicrous amounts of the others, I decided to stop making insane amounts of money and instead just finish the damn game.

I still haven't finished the game, as I can't be arsed to do the retarded thing in the vents of the university.


After 1213 came out, I figured it had to be worth it if it was done like Prince of Persia and Flashback.

As you can see, it was enough to make me decide that registering in the forums might be worthwhile.

As you can also see, I haven't yet convinced myself it was, indeed, worth it.



As you can probably guess, I'm going to strangle the first person to reply to this.

You think we have nothing better to do? There's a whole forum out there, not just Fully Ramblomatic. You see JM's post count? You think he has over four-thousand posts of "I love Yahtzee"? You see the title of the forum? CHEFELF.com not YAHTZEE.com. And it's nice to know you have an above-genius level IQ. I do too. I also hate stupid people. I don't see how it was at all relevant. It seems to me that you were, instead of giving more credit to your point, attempting to make it stronger by using the age-old arguing tactic of "I'm smarter than you, so whatever I say must be true." I'm sorry, it doesn't work that way, and it only detracts from your point. Normally, I wouldn't be this rude to someone the moment they came on, but I really feel that you were out of line. We tolerate this sort of behavior from Yahtzee because he's a celebrity. He's an internet celebrity, but a celebrity nonetheless. He's a friend of the Chef, so really there's not much we can do about it. So say you're strangling me, frankly, strangling someone over the internet and thinking they'll actually be offended is pretty immature.
