Please cite your sources, and also explain a little bit what's going on, as this blurb leaves me quirking an eyebrow in confuzzlement. Some guy was nominated to some title in the UN (ONU)? I think I'm missing something, here.

Here's a better source:

Ronaldinho has been appointed as the United Nations' spokesman for Sport for Development and

Peace and will make a speech at the UN headquarters in New York on Friday.

The fact that the Brazilian superstar is a symbol of happiness and his universal attraction has impressed the UN. In honour of his new role with the body, Ronaldinho will be presented in his new role at 19:00 (CET) in the head offices of the UN on Friday.

As a spokesman for the UN Ronaldinho will help the organisation with the movement that was created during the International Year of Sport and Physical Education (YSPE 2005). The aim is to mobilise the football world and all encourage supporters to to promote sport as a way of developing socially and economically and to aid health, education and peace.

Degree of honours

Ronaldinho's recognition by the UN reinforces his image as the number one player in the world. Along with all the honours that he has won with FC Barcelona and at international level with Brazil, the former Gremio star as twice been named FIFA World Player of the Year (2004 and 2005) and has been awarded the Ballon D'Or (2005). The Barça number ten also creates excitement among the fans as he been seen in every city that the Blaugrana have visited on their pre-season tour.
