I keep getting this strange glitch in ep2, when you enter the food court and everything starts to fade away. I go to the left where there seems to be a little hole in the ground, but the game just crashes and i get a pop-up saying:
Illegal exception

An exception 0xC0000005 occured in ACWIN.EXE at EIP = 0x004443EC ; program pointer is +77, ACI version 2.62.772, gtags (5,0)

AGS cannot continue, this exception was fatal. Please note down the numbers above, remember what you were doing at the time and notify CJ on the Tech forum.

There's your first clue.

In seriousness, I don't know of anyone else having a problem like that - I've played through 1213 a fair few times with no problem whatsoever. Maybe try a reinstall?

Nothing that a reinstallation could fix. Just report to CJ that his fading code probably needs some consolidation.

This man clearly knows more than I.

Nah, I just like to send others to deliver some half-precise error reports with hints to something pretty much irrelevant to the responsible programmers. Officially, I'll say that it's a managerial technique to test their vigilance. Inofficially I just love to see them freaking out while tracing down errors in all the wrong directions. Bonus points if you just made the error up completely.

But seriously, I don't know, the scene doesn't use usual "fading" anyway (not sure whether AGS has that kinda function in the first place). Might be some messed up sprite handling and collision testing though.

I'd love to know how Yahtzee does some of his AGS tricks.

Oh, that's the alternate version of the game. In the normal version, the character goes a bit crazy for a while, but Yahtzee thought it'd be more impressive if the entire world (the computer program) stopped working at that point. dry.gif

Har har.

Ps: Reinstalled the game, works fine now. Damn that boss was boring.
Pps: Had the same glitch when starting up ep3, but a reinstall worked, again.

Would be fun if data integrity really had something to do with it in your case, first time that I'd consider MD5 checks to be actually useful.

I know the MD5 lobby is just waiting out there, clenching their fists and uttering curses into my direction while waiting for their day to come.

Certainly an unusual boss, especially with the guy saying it wasn't really there in the next ep. Never got through the train on the next bit, personally.

It's a British thing, so far as I know.
