Another thing that struck me as odd was that the Rebel commando party led by Han gets permission to land on Endor upon temporary deactivation of the force field because Vader waved them through sensing Luke's presence. They proceed to land in a secluded area and begin the march toward the shield generator's location to do what they gotta do in bringing it down. The Imperials don't seem to be preturbed that a shuttle may be overdue for landing or crashed on the way to the platform. Something like that should have generated a high alert level and search, especially if the shield generator was in need of the parts and technical crew Han said they were carrying.

If the shuttle craft which nobody expects, falls in the forest and nobody misses it, did it make a sound?

Here's where a GL supporter or bonus disc guest, would wax that the main reason for the shuttle camoflage parts and technical crew was so Luke could learn how to fly the shuttle, just in case he needed to evacuate DS2 so quickly.

and besides, when Luke did hold annie in his arms, why didn't some stormtrooper or other imperial lackey burst in, firing and yelling "He Killed our Leader! Git 'em!" I suppose they were all on their way to a Rebel celebration on the planet of their choice. rolleyes.gif

I'm curious what the terrain was on Endor's Other moons.

Or, even the Royal Gaurds. The Emperor said "leave us". I thought he wanted them out of the room so that they wouldn't interfere if things did not go exactly according to plan. What the hell did they do, go down to the break room for tea and crumpets?

Why did it seem no one was remotely concerned about the Emperor? Wouldn't the ruler of the galaxy have some kind of fail-safes in case something happened to him.

A light must have gone off in somebodies head when they saw Luke dragging around the dying Vader. Even if they didn't know what had happened in the Throne room, they ought to have taken some kind of action.

More than likely, everyone was just concerned about hauling ass because they knew the DS2 was going to be destroyed. This time, they did try to evacuate in their "moment of triumph".
Apparently writing about JM here is his secret weakness. Muwahaha!!!! Now I have leverage over him and am another step closer towards my goal of world domination.

"And the Evil that was vanquished shall rise anew. Wrapped in the guise of man shall he walk amongst the innocent and Terror shall consume they that dwell upon the Earth. The skies will rain fire. The seas shall become as blood. The righteous shall fall before the wicked! And all creation shall tremble before the burning standards of Hell!" - Mephisto

Kurgan X showed me this web comic done with Legos. It pokes fun at all six Star Wars films and I found it to be extremely entertaining.

The Royal Guards going down like chumps in ROTS by Yoda's hand in little or no effort expended would pretty much put a big check in the negative column for me if I were Palpatine in regard to having them as bodyguards. You'd think that they would have at least jumped Luke as he was carrying out Vader toward the landing bay/shuttle area. Seems they're the same wimpy bastards as in the PT, only with red uniforms. Supposedly, they're the cream of the crop and they're not clones because they predate the whole Clone Wars thing and all the Clone Troopers. If I were facing someone who decided not to convert to the Dark Side, I think I would have called in the guards as I was zapping the life out of him with Sith lightening, especially since they carry "Force Pikes".The whole Throne Room is all man made with lots of electronic doo-dads, so calling them back in shouldn't have been all that difficult to say the least.

I'm not a Lucas lover or anything, and I enjoy hearing everything that's wrong with Star Wars, but this is clearly explained. The Emperor allowed the shuttle to fall into the hands of the rebels to lure them to the death star and destroy them. So, he knew they were there the entire time, thus they were allowed to land wherever they pleased. Sorry to burst the bubble.

You didn't really burst it because the Rebels would be saps if they thought that a shuttle going missing after getting permission to land would bring no reaction from the Imperials, hence the loophole. I'm sure the Empire has some kind of tracking/air controllers that would have followed the coordinates of the descending shuttle and have known where it was supposed to go down or may have crashed, been overtaken, etc, leading to the possibility that the commando party could have been discovered and eliminated upon landing or soon thereafter. Its another color by number Lucas shortcoming stating that the Empire is strong enough to build another Death Star and have a planetary shield on it but wouldn't monitor a shuttle landing or offer a hint at a search or caring about it not appearing on time because the Rebels are good and smart and the Imperials are idiots.

That's like in The Truman Show. Throw up a bunch of walls; just don't go through any doors and nobody gets hurt.

At least in those days of the parts and technical crew, the sets had walls.

Yeah, I suppose, but Truman's world eventually started to disintergrate around him and he started to catch on. The Rebels may as well have landed a Mon Calarmi cruiser for more troops and firepower on the surface of Endor because they're the good guys and just hav eto flash the official LFL Good Guy Fan Club Card to get away with it all and get exciting discounts on premium merchandise at the gift shop.

Well, yeah. But they could also STEAL what they wanted from the gift shop, and then just throw something to knock over the guard who points a gun and says "Freeze!"

I admire your attitude, I just don't think it's that big a deal. I'm more astonished that artoo was there to pop Luke his lightsaber. Now there's some powerful planning for you.

To reply to the topic question...
Vader and the Emperor had rumbled their little ruse and needed them to think everything was going to plan so the rest of the Alliance fleet would pitch up for a hiding at the hands of the Death Star/Imperial fleet . To take care of the shuttle team he sent down a legion of his 'best' troops. What they were best at was never revealed, unless it was missing targets, getting beaten up by teddy bears and slapstick.

I'm more surprised that they could fit as many people as they did into the shuttle.

Look at it...its not too big, regardless of whether or not there actually was all sorts of cargo in it.

There was easily 30-50 people

I suppose... but there were no parts. Just technical crew.

So was Star Destroyer just some cute name, like "Land Yacht"?
