A buddy of mine got me the OT DVD which I did not have. I watched JEDI on Christmas Eve and morn, which I hadn't done on my vhs for a while. Lots to review, enough to deplore. But I've reconsidered the ending.
for the Cinema SE's, we were all VERy disappointed by the lack of the yub yub song, which we hated, yet loved to hate. Don't mess with our SW memories.
Which I uphold. Still, I'm not sure I hate the new ending other than the Hatin' Christiansen...
Couple of things came to mind.
The whirlwind tour is okay..... there. I said it. But it seems a little too much like a trip to the amusement park with a world of adventure around every turn.
the grunts and beeps were nice accents to the new celebration score. Every word part of blip or groan is syncopated with the music now.
The xylophone passage is now a temple block solo which I can accept.
Hayden appears, Luke smiles like wtf. Look Leia, it's him. 'Bye. (Luke turns, walks away) If the smarmy one must be there, at least I can pretend Luke's blowing him off.
It's not as rushed an ending as it used to feel, that's for certain. and
lando can't clap in time.

I think there's a warped undercurrent in the celebration scene with the Rebel pilots excited about finally "getting some" from the Ewoks after dog fighting for many hours on end. The scene is silly, along with the Intergalactic celebration on other worlds, especially since these are the very same people who cheered Palpatine's creating the Empire in the Senate scene in ROTS.

i always hated it showing the other planets, simply because it wasnt important planets. they should have only shown corruscant or not shown anything. it just happened to be the only planets that we saw in star wars.
