Black is black and white is white are by definition absolute statements. "Facts" are absolute, in that they meet the necessary requirement of completeness. I suggest that the complainant read up on other meanigns of ABSOLUTE, one of swhich, a NOUN, is "anything that is absolute," eg "an absolute fact, law, statement, etc. The word is NOT simply an adjective. Obi-Wan uses it correctly, and the original complaint that "do or do not ... etc" is in fact not an absolute statemtn in the way that "ALL people who use absolutes are without question and in all cases Sith," which whether true or not would be an absolute statement, like say if I saud "ALL dogs are black."

Anyway, I don't see a need for there to be two threads on this same semantic debate. Surely there is a place in this world wide web for personal arguments about the meanings of words that can easily be found in online dictionaries; this place isn't it. Since this thread contains in my opinion 5% more personal insults than the other one, this one is closed.
"I had a lot of different ideas. At one point, Luke, Leia and Ben were all going to be little people, and we did screen tests to see if we could do that." -George Lucas, in STAR WARS: the Annotated Screenplays (p197).
