There is a special feature on the ROTS DVD where Rob Coleman (animation director for ROTS) is telling a bunch of wookie extras that they are the "seinor warriors" and that they are "way older than Chewbacca." He then goes on to say, "Chewie is just a little kid in this movie and he grows up to be an important wookie later on."

Now, like most quotes from people involved with the film (see McCullum's Boba Fett Quote from AOTC) he can't really be personally held responsible. However, he's trying to explain things to a bunch of actors and he's getting it all wrong.

From what we know to be true in the past we can say that Chewbacca is safely 180 years old in ROTS, at the absolute youngest!

I don't know... maybe wookies live to be 10,000 years old and if that is the case then this statement is spot on.

Maybe the relative age of Wookies is ten times that of Humans. By which I mean, a 100 year old Wookie is like a 10 year old human. So Chewbacca at age 200 is like a 20 year old guy.

Which brings up this point... what the heck IS Chewbacca doing there? He's only there because he was there in the OT and serves no purpose other than make fanboys drool.

Which is oh so condemably true.

I know this has been asked many times before, but WHY George WHY! How on Earth can the creator of one of the greatest things on the planet be the creator of one the worst things on the planet and connect the two things?
Apparently writing about JM here is his secret weakness. Muwahaha!!!! Now I have leverage over him and am another step closer towards my goal of world domination.

"And the Evil that was vanquished shall rise anew. Wrapped in the guise of man shall he walk amongst the innocent and Terror shall consume they that dwell upon the Earth. The skies will rain fire. The seas shall become as blood. The righteous shall fall before the wicked! And all creation shall tremble before the burning standards of Hell!" - Mephisto

Kurgan X showed me this web comic done with Legos. It pokes fun at all six Star Wars films and I found it to be extremely entertaining.

Does that mean Chewie's little bastard son is like 500 years old during the Holiday Special?
It seems like everyone is over the nitpicking. Too bad.

Believe it or not, and I found it hard to believe myself until i saw it, but on starwars.com, the events
taking place during the Holiday Special have been incorporated into the Star Wars cannon, in the extended or expanded universe section. Yes, even Life Day where they can all walk on space itself toward the great white whirling mass of whatever Luke and Leia stare out at during the end of ESB.

I always assumed Chewbacca was 200 years old ever since ANH came out and I had the Random House Star Wars Picture Soorybook (a copy of which I own to this day along with the ESB one). Then the "Chewbacca is the last Wookie left" crap started to make its way around on the web during the time of the PT. 200 years is a big chunk of time, if Chewie was able to be a kid for 100 years, then the Wookies are onto something.

One good story in the extended universe novels was about the bounty hunters and Bossk. It was said that the Wookies and Bossk's race lived on Kassyyk, with the Wookies living on the tops of trees a la the Holiday Special and like the Ewoks in ROTJ, and Bossk's folk down below on the forest floor/swamp where they'd hunt Wookies above and occassionally delight if one fell down their way. Why couldn't Lucas incorporate this in ROTS? It would have been something to see, instead of "hey Kassyyk looks a lot like a part of china I saw on a Discovery Special, except that the massive Star Destroyer ship that Yoda uses can for some reason land....."

i knew Bossk's people had a penchant for wearing wookie pelts, but i never heard this stuff about them being from Kashyyyk.

they seem a little too well travelled to really be from the same place.

and by what point is chewie meant to be the last wookie alive?
does his family suddenly die after/during ESB or something?

fuck, prequel geeks are the worst. the circulate some serious bullshit.
SW used to be fun, but the fans and it's maker have collectivley ruined it...

i hate it when retards get into the same stuff as me. it always turns to shit.

like the first Marylin Manson album (POAAF) that was fun and interesting... then they expanded their fanbase to dropkicks just like SW!!!

Bossk and his peeps are from a place called trandoshia or the like, supposedly near Kassyyk where they engage in caputring Wookies for the Empire as slaves and the like. I chcecked the SW databank and it says Bossk even ate his own father. Nice stuff. It would have made morse sense to show him somewhere than all the newer lamer characters in the PT.

Heard the rumor about Chewie being the last of the Wookies somewhere between TPM and AOTC. The Bounty Hunters book collection of short stories (a paperback volume) had the story featuring Bosk/Chewie and I could have sworn they were from Kassyyk, I could have been mistaken. Wuld have been a better story, as opposed to what we saw later on, not much of a planet with really high trees so the Wookies ability to jump around like apes is already rendered useless.

I just prefer to think (because i have to make up my own stories to make Star Wars make sense now sad.gif ) that Chewbacca is 20 years old in ROTS and 40 years old in ANH, say Wookies live about 10-20 years older than humans on average, and there you go (not that 40 year old men couldent run around and battle and so on, but yannow), theres no problem with Chewie being in ROTS.

What i found odd is that with every single Wookie on Kashyyyk wearing armor and various garb Chewbacca still has his single bandolier job going on. Useful, he dosen't change once in 20 years!

That reminds me of a classic observation about Jabba's sidekick "How old is Bib Fortuna, 6,000?!" and he never even changed his clothes!
