Hello everyone.

It's been months since I lasted posted here on Chefelf and I apologize for that. I just didn't have anything to say until now.

I finally got Star Wars Episode III on DVD (Which is apparently the only format it's going to be released in) after all this time and I finally watched it. I got all sorts of 'reasons to hate' brewing up and I'll share those with you shortly, but not now for now, though. I will give my general impression of the movie in the following sentence.

Incoherance, illogical, nonexistant plot and general boringness is the sentense I would use to describe it for the time being. I'll go into details with the reasons in a day or so.

As you all might remember, I've been stating more nearly a year and half (or more if I'm not mistaken) that I would be having my Star Wars marathon as soon as this event happens and I will. This weekend I'll start a thread announcing my beginning and I'll post in it when I'm done with the marathon. I'll give my final views on Star Wars before I give my mourn and cease being a Star Wars fan in its entirety. I will still occasionally post on this forum, though, but not in the Star Wars folder. I've done enough criticism and ranting already! smile.gif

I know what you're saying. I will not 'cease to be a Star Wars fan' forever but I did feel a sense of closure when I put that DVD on the shelf after finishing the special features. I know that it'll be a long time before I spend any time watching Star Wars (the prequels anyway) again.

I'll doubtlessly have no trouble not being a Star Wars fan. I'll still play the games every now and then (I've just reinstalled X-wing and TIE fighter on my PC and I'll be getting X-wing VS. Tie fighter and X-Wing alliance soon, hopefully) and I won't deny that they're Star Wars, but I haven't watched the movies in years and I think I can basically go on a few decades without watching them. It'll probably be a chore to watch all the six movies at once, but it can (and probably must) be done. I'll need lots of junk food and popcorn, though...

I guess one aspect of being a 'mature' viewer is that one feels an apathy that many would called 'stoicness' when watching these movies. You know they're bad, and you know that you hate them, but at the same time you're indifferent to this badness both on the inside and out. It's only a movie, after all, and I have to get the fanatical loyality out for a change. One day I'm going to make my own sci-fi world to write stories in and I think it'll replace the Star Wars universe for me.

If there was a "single" positive about ROTS, it's that it wasn't boring. Some of the scenes may have been absolutely ridiculous, but they weren't boring. I've watched it seven times now, and I'm always entertained while watching it.

I've watched it 4 times, twice in theaters in april, and twice since ive bought the dvd. its my second favorite star wars movie, and even if you hate it, you have to admit the anakin/obi wan duel was a great moment in star wars history.

It could have been dog puke and it would have qualified as a great moment in star wars history.

If the Earth gets hit tomorrow by a comet, you have to admit it would be a great moment in the planet's history.

But in a crazy way I admire your misguided enthusiasm. Misguided because Star Wars was So very much better when it first came out and like it or not, (GL included) you can't go home again.

I liked the Anakin/Obi-Wan duel until they started fighting on lava. Personally, I thought the Count Dooku lightsaber battle at the beginning of the movie was the best duel in ROTS, even though it was extremely short.

I wouldnt call myself misguided for likeing a part in the PT. of course i wish it were just Star Wars again, but we cant go back to taht so whats the use of always talking about it. i like the prequels. and im happy about that.

Guys, I've had my movie marathon and I'll be posting my total review of everything tonight. I tried to do it yesterday but I was too tired to finish off my post (it is the biggest I've written yet!) and it was too big for me to even post a partial bit. I'll need several posts to put it all in one thread...

you know what... i have to admit, you're right.

i think all three movies suck major ass, but the one thing that elevates e3 over the other two is that stuff actually happened in it.

it isn't boring.

i still don't like it, but i wouldn't call it boring. where's jariten... he might actually enjoy me saying that. smile.gif
