If I try to do TV and computer at the same time, I either end up with my attention devoted to one, or split between the two, giving each a sub-optimal amount of attention.

Agreed. Though it's useful to plug the computer into the tv and watch things I've downloaded.

what if i want it to mean "Lady with penis of steel"?
People can multi task otherwise nobody would be able to do things like drive a car. Just multi tasking has to either have one of the things so simple that you do it subconsiously like changing gear, or you would need to devote less attention to all things and therefore have more chance of cocking them up.

I must testify to Otal's ability to multitask. He is completely capable of having a coherant and involved telephone conversation, watching television, and roleplaying at the same time. And he actually does all of those things well. I'm just good at getting distracted and getting nothing done.

The brain can do only one thing at a time, so it may appear that otals multitasking, byt he reall isnt.
