i watched this movie i hadn't heard of, called equilibrium. it was...........................................F**king AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
it was like the matrix, except cooler, and it didn't have keanu reeves.
basicaly in the future were all one society, except outsiders, who take procium that makes us devoid of emotions. as stupid as that sounds, it was cool. the main character "preston." stops taking his intervals, and starts feeling. when before he was a grammaton cleric. the clerics are highly trained badasses that go around arresting and incinerating "sense offenders", burning art, books, and anything that sparks emotions. but the action sequences. oh my god. he would use two cool desert eagle ish pistols that came out of his sleeves. he didn't do anything inhuman, just something you would have to train for. like, say..............slap two dudes shotguns in a way that they turn around an he shoots they're face off.
......................okay, so it is a little un believable. but that doesn't mean it wasn't cool. in one scene he shoots up a bunch of dudes in just about the coolest fashion. again when the same scenario happens, i expected him to do the same badass thing again. but instead he turns his guns around and pistol-whips them all. it was
AWESOME MOFO AWESOME COOLNESS GREATNESS, WATCH IT COOL-LIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you should all watch it, and i think you will agree. i know reid has seen it and he did.

The best Matrix rip-off cover I've ever seen is for a movie called "Power.com". They don't even try to modify it. Same colour scheme, layout, everything. The best part about it is that Bruce Campbell is in it, albeit in a very small role. Not quite as small as his role in Darkman, but still small.

"whoah thats a hell of a lot better than the matrix."

I loved Equilibrium also. Christian Bale is awesome, and that opening action sequence in the dark is unbelieveable, afterwards I was just staring at the screen like Holy crap! Not the most original movie ever, but original enough and great.

forgot to mention.

they need to make a sequel. have preston trying to kill and flush out the last of the enemy grammaton clerics. have all that's left get together and try to kill preston. that would be awesome. more cleric fights i say.

That would be cool, and it seems like the end was left open for a sequel, but it was not a wide-release and didn't receive enough acclaim (critically and with audiences) for Dimension to consider a sequel. But you're right I wish they did.

What's funny about this movie is that EVERYONE I know who saw it has said things like:

"Dude, I just saw this movie I never even heard of and it kicked ass."
"I saw this movie called equilibrium and it was better than the matrix!"
Etc. Not unlike this thread at all.

I just find it funny anything I hear or read about this, everyone says the same thing.

I saw it. It was interesting. I wouldn't go anywhere near "fucking awesome" though. If I recall, the ending didn't make much sense... How did he manage to smuggle guns through security to shoot everyone?

And that probability thing means that the one time a person does something that wasn't predicted, the agent is shot in the face. It does make for fun cinema though.

I saw it a couple months back. I thought it was better than the matrix. Even the campyness was good.
