ALL SYSTEMS GO!

SYSTEM OF A DOWN have announced plans to play three UK dates in the summer.

The band, who are strongly rumoured to be appearing at this year’s Download Festival, will perform a trio of shows in June.

SOAD will play:

    * London Brixton Academy (June 3/4)
    * Manchester Evening News Arena (14)
    * Glasgow SECC (15)

Tickets are on sale now. For availability, click here or call the NME Ticketline on 0870 1 663 663.

The group have spent the last year putting the finishing touches to the follow up to 2001’s ‘Toxicity’ with the help of producer Rick Rubin.

The double album 'Mesmerize/Hypnotize' will be released six months apart, with the first record scheduled for an April release.

"There has been a great deal of upheaval, very troubling times for all of us over the past year or so," said vocalist Serj Tankian. "That has brought forth a lot of emotional material. There's a good amount of social commentary in the new songs, as well as songs where we deal with love, with reminiscing, relationships, politics, and amusing experiences."

Long time no reply, so I might as well.

Yes, I'm going to be seeing them on that tour in Brixton.

Plus, someone leaked a new song...

Fuck, why can't they play in Chicago? Maybe when the second disc of the set is released in October?

Cigraro has been available for download on several sites, including SOAD's.

Isn't this the follow up to Steal This Album?

"Steal This Album" was all b-sides and out-takes from the "Toxicity" sessions. Their last proper album was actually "Toxicity".

Last night I downloaded their other single, BYOB, it's fantastic and nothing like any other SOAD music.

It was fucking genius! I'll give you a rough idea what some of it was like:
Daron played a solo that was like:
"My love for you will never end, my sweet little china doll ...blah blah... MY COCK IS MUCH BIGGER THAN YOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I'm completely unimpressed with "Mesmerize". They haven't done much to push forward with their sound. It's still the same basic stuff.

Maybe so, but I still think it was a bloody good album. And a bloody good gig (although I was there on a different night to Mr Lecter), but I've already written about it in the eponymous journal. So I won't write again. Suffice to say, yayage.

Are we listening to the same album here?

Anyone heard the track Hypnotize, from the forth coming System of a Down album, Hypnotize? Its sweet. I also downloaded two of the other tracks, live versions only though. I can't find any other CD tracks but Hypnotize. I suppose the reason why is they released the album title track on their site...

I wasn't too impressed with BYOB. Ya usually shouldn't mix surrealism and anti government lyrics (it can be done, one example would be peace attack, by Sonic Youth, but it usually turns out sophmoric.)
And we want to be free to ride our machines without being hassled by the man! And we want to get loaded!

As I said earlier, I think the entire "Mezmerize" album is pretty unimpressive. You'll see just how unimpressive I thought it to be when I do my year-end music wrap up on Heccubus.Blog!
