Used to be I'd get this great feeling when watching SW footage. Just now a commercial came on spouting critic's praise for rots (hawking the dvd) with footage from some of the more, emotional, scenes.

I didn't feel anything.

PT folks; Do you get chills when you see these commercials? Just wondering.

The footage is indeed breathtaking, but having seen the film I'm reminded of ROTS/PT's overall campiness. Wasn't until you used the lower case that I saw it spe;;s "rots" as in 'the DVD just lies there at the end table as if its a piece of meat or a vegetable of some kind and rots!" Maybe George tried to warn us from the beginning in a subliminal way.

I know we're an international audience and all, but when ROTS came out it had a lot of tie in commercials with fast food places and M&Ms candies. The M&M spots were cute but the Burger King ones with Vader appearing at the door of a guy wanting his fast food whatever was just too much whoring, and this continues with the DVD commercials.

I keep hoping there's a commercial where George says, "I was just toying with you, for $15 here's the real PT cut the way its supposed to be...." But I guess it isn't meant to be......

I'll second (or third) the drum thing. It was completely unexpected and broke formula but it was a really nice touch. Music and sound effects are the only thing about the PT that I don't have anything negative to say about. The sound design continues to be excellent.

Despondent, I know what you mean about chills. Recently I got DVDs of the Definitive collection Laserdiscs and I watched all three movies. Seeing them in their unaltered CGI-free state gave me chills.

I still get chills every DAMN time the Vader/Luke scene happens on cloud city. When he says, "No, I am your father." it gets me every damn time. In that one moment I can forget about everything that has happened since.

I get chills at the moment when luke and vader first begin their fight, where the smoke is giving both of them this black glow against the light. and luke is in a big hurry and turns his lightsaber on real fast, and vader, keeps it kool and evil and turns it on slowly and menacingly.

I also get chills during the death star space battle in ANH.

The trailers for the Prequels (the real trailers, I'm not talking about some lame burger king ad) are marvelously crafted, making the films all look AWESOME. Seeing them in the theater makes you want to stop watching the movie you're watching and somehow leap into the future to see what's being advertised.

Honestly, I thought ROTS was great, and AOTC (mostly) great, but even then the trailers make them look way cooler than they actually are.

The retro trailers for the original trilogy on the other hand, with their unfinished effects and weird voice overs, slow pace and hokey photo zooms make the movies look boring in my opinion... but I guess I've been spoiled by modern trailer presentations. Modern trailers for the Star Wars trilogy (made in the 1990's, and especially the Special Edition trailers) make me really nostalgic and want to watch all three movies all over again.

A good trailer should get you hyped for a movie, without spoiling it. So I'd say these modern trailers do their job well.

I will agree with you that oversaturation of footage dulls your enthusiasm for it though, which is another reason why I avoided watching TV near the release of each of the prequels until I'd seen them in the theater myself (plus to avoid spoilage). I watched the official trailers on my computer, and that was about it.

Okay. I guess that is... alright. I didn't feel much of anything either, except a small feeling that I should go see it... to see if it was good, that is.

It turned out to be 'good'. I haven't watched it since I watched it in theatres, so it is growing ever-vague inside of my mind.
