I liked seeing the power droid, even as he was tortured. The torture droid, while doing something I enjoyed, goes into the Jawa-crawler category of who cares. She was pandering to the kiddie-audience, as were all of Jabba's minions.
the creature that reaches out of jail bars and swipes at 3PO proved his worth. Maybe I preferred these characters because they kept their damn mouths shut.

there was this tv commercial in 1979 which was actually a Public Service Announcement. Maybe some of you remember it. It was about 25 seconds of the cantina footage, you know, the freaky aliens drinking it up real good to the John Williams ragtime. Then a starfield with the Falcon headed into the distance.
the Voice Over was: Even in Galaxies far far away... Friends don't let friends drive drunk.
It was great. 30 seconds of actual, televised, SW footage. That hadn't happened since James at 15.
I kind of liked the Hammerhead species. Where do they rank in the Galactic Senate?
Fine. I'll visit the SW database myself.

Yea cuz when you fly drunk you "could fly right through a star or bounce too close to a supernova and that'd end your trip real quick, wouldn't it?"

There was a PSA I remember as a kid that came on at odd times of C-3PO and R2D2 telling kids not to smoke. R2 had a cigarette going on a little arm of his, or there was an ash tray with a lit and going cigarette and he extinguishes it, 3PO adds the usual smoking is bad commentary, the whole thing took place on the Millennium Falcon if memory servesme correctly.....
Good thing there were no PT attempts at PSAs like Jar Jar saying "Don'ts be a crack whore" because well, I'd probably be a crack whore now just to spite Lucas and the whole PT world now.
I'd like to see that commercial again because it was footage specifically shot for a unique ad, and not stock stuff that was transposed. In the vast wasteland of the TV of my youth, the appearance of that ad was a ray of light, as if the film were going to be played on TV at any moment (this is before VCRs and the like, so Star Wars was inaccessable except for the good old Random House Star Wars storybook with its great pics).
