Got My tickets.

Moviefone.com'd my way to a 10:40 show Friday night.
Same showtime available for next Sat and Sun (as of 30 minutes ago) but not much else.

I hope it's not a 3-hr ordeal, but I fear not falling asleep.
Oh, wait, that's what those other people said. (Better take a nap.)

I'm not really going for the hype. Rather a curiosity RE: news reports leaking since last summer. Other than the prequels and lotr, I've stayed away from hyped films by and large. I did see titanic. Good friend said "I wanna see that other one, the one not getting so much hype." So there's no doubt it's a concern. Just so long as Swanson doesn't do a last supper tv dinner.

it was great I thought. or, I think. I'm still thinking about it. Very effective.

I've been fortunate to experience the stations of the cross on several "fourth day" retreats, featuring banners for each station, dramatic readings and flashlights in the dark. As powerful as those have been (and I'm not suggesting such for anyone- just trying to make a point) my mind tends to wander. For instance; like during a boring sermon or a prequel battle scene. (yawn) The Stations of the Cross is important to many people, especially this time of year.

During this film, my thoughts never fled.

One of my pals saw the movie and said it was brilliant. I guess I'll go see it.. Does it have Christ's ressurection?

I just saw the film. I thought it was boring and over the top. I'm much happier just reading the events from a book than sit through that shit.

I was begging for dialogue. I was so tired of blood. I was so tired of seeing Christ fall to the ground time after time.

I know he got beaten with cat of nine tails and was then dragged to the cross. It does not mean I want to see it though.

The amount of dialogue was at a minimum partially due to the fact that not many of the actors could speak Armaic and Hebrew. (shot in the dark)

Satan freaking out after Christ died was the only scene that made me go "cool". The rest was really boring.

I really liked the floating satan scenes. the rain drop was cool.

two thoughts for the dvd extras:

Maybe they'd include the cock crow, and the Centurion's line.

IT's a scene that would be good for non-christians to see because they probably don't fully understand what Christ's sacrifice meant.

As a non-Christian, I'll have to refute that, Jordan. I know more about all the messages and mixed messages of the Bible than most Christians out there.

The wanker from Arkansas I talked about in the Pointless Random Thoughts thread... well he was this hardcore Christian fundamentalist who always told us to convert. The funny thing was that my friend and I knew the Bible almost inside out and this dick who was playing evangilical nutcase hadn't even read it once.
