You know the scene in ESB where a silly being we later are told is Yoda fights with R2 over the flashlight in Luke's survival gear. Why would R2 put up a fight as he would recognize Yoda (who is a one of a kind being based on what we've seen throughout all the movies) and not had some form of respect for him as all the droids in the PT seem to have (the non-combat ones). The only explaination that comes to mind readily is that its 1980/81 and there was no definate plan in mind so the fight stays in.

That is another good reason why R2 and 3PO just shouldn't have been in the PT. (or could have at least been done better)
Apparently writing about JM here is his secret weakness. Muwahaha!!!! Now I have leverage over him and am another step closer towards my goal of world domination.

"And the Evil that was vanquished shall rise anew. Wrapped in the guise of man shall he walk amongst the innocent and Terror shall consume they that dwell upon the Earth. The skies will rain fire. The seas shall become as blood. The righteous shall fall before the wicked! And all creation shall tremble before the burning standards of Hell!" - Mephisto

Kurgan X showed me this web comic done with Legos. It pokes fun at all six Star Wars films and I found it to be extremely entertaining.

Apart from Yoda trying to steal something that belonged to him, I suggest watching the films in order.

It looks as though Yoda has just lost it. R2 thinks the same?

Still, R2 and Threepio have a subserviant approach to others as they're programmed to, and why R2 fights for the flashlight when according to the storyline (now) with a superior he's supposed to recognize is beyond me, especially when he's equipped with a flashlight within himself, not a big thing to fight over.

Unless (fanboy mode) he was programmed aboard the Tantive IV to put up a fight by Yoda to fool Luke, cheeky monkeys both!

This post should be in the ESB thread. Anyway, I agree that Yoda is senile. There are just two many inconsistencies with the way the Jedi acted in the PT and Yoda's grandiose teachings!
It seems like everyone is over the nitpicking. Too bad.

This post should be in the ESB thread.

I thought about that a bit before posting and posted it in the ROTS thread for a couple of specific reasons. First, more folks frequest the ROTS part than the ESB one, and I have to plead guilty to wanting the point to be seen and discussed. Second, before the PT/ROTS, ESB and what went on in it was pretty much flawless from a number of points like this, so the events in the PT and specifically ROTS give one a migraine without really delving too deeply into the material. When i viewed ESB before, R2's actions seemed reasonable, after the PT, and supposedly knowing what we all know now, something like this seems bizarre and illogical. Its almost as if there's a switch thrown to turn any sense in the films on and off at Lucas's whim. Moreover, why not reinsert another ESB special edition where R2 uses all the doo dads like the rockets to escape from the Dagobah water beast w/out any problems? He has an array of more than abundant features in one series, and they're not used in the other.

Lame excuse:

When R2 fell from the X-wing, his brain was damaged so he couldn't recognize Yoda.
Sorry, you won't be seeing a smartass sig here. Try with the next poster.

Maybe he just really liked that flashlight. And never liked Yoda. Maybe they competed for attention. And hated each other.
"The problem is, you're not a kangaroo... that's a bear... and he's in your pants."
"Maybe artists shouldn't talk about their art."
"Well kids, I guess your father isn't a hermaphrodite."
"Izzy! enough with the rabid smootching!!"

Too true.

You know, maybe it was R2 being rebellious. Yoda having created him and all... rolleyes.gif
