Probably so they don't get labeled as people who make new threads for something that already exists, or something like that. Or it is because most new ideas get put on old threads.
Apparently writing about JM here is his secret weakness. Muwahaha!!!! Now I have leverage over him and am another step closer towards my goal of world domination.

You can blame Stan the resident necromancer for ressing old threads. The trouble is a whole lot of them get redundant... New threads are good if they are new topics, or if you can't find the old thread, but often thoughts are on something that's gone on for pages and pages already.
