Ok, me and my neighbors are starting a crappy garage band, and we keep arguing about the name. This is partly because the drummer likes country, the rhythm guitarist is an emo kid, and the lead guitarist likes... insane clown posse. Most of these names weren't by me, but I'll refrain from saying which ones so the results aren't skewed in or against my favor. I'll only say that Konstant was NOT my idea. And I'll also say that Das Faust was my contribution. Let me know what you think.

I gathered from Barend that it was the name of a german porno.

Then I vote for Das Faust. smile.gif

Space Invaders is also a cool name. Well, I guess it depends of what kind of music is your band going to play.
Sorry, you won't be seeing a smartass sig here. Try with the next poster.

Sort of experimental punk. A little bit of blues thrown in for good measure.

Heh, I typed it into a translator, and it came up as "The Fist".

Out of all of them, I'd have to say Das Faust.

Edit: And it sort of fits the punk theme, too.

Barend mentioned something called Das Faust once. Right? Or am I making that up?

Shouldn't a band name be something that bears some significance to each member of the group, rather than a random assortment of things that one guy thinks sounds cool?

Yeah, that's where I got it, Barend mentioned it on that thread about Michael Jackson's life being like Faust.

It's the name of a song by Nomeansno that has stuck with me rather closely since the first time I heard it when I was 16 or 17. It also happens to be the name of a movie, but I've never seen it. I'm assuming that it's where Nomeansno got the idea. In the same vein, Ageispolis is the name of one of my favourite Aphex Twin tracks, and my old comedic project Grave Robbers From Space! had its title taken from a certain Ed Wood film. Anything I've used has been taken from bits and pieces of pop culture that I hold particularly close. Deviating from this pattern slightly was Euth, a project that Reader, electric prune, myself and a friend worked on. The point of Euth was to make sounds so unpleasant that the listener wished for death. I immediately thought of Euthanasia, a subject that I've always been fascinated with, but shortened it to Euth so as not to confuse ourselves with Youth In Asia, a shitty southern Ontario punk rock band.

My point is this, just coming up with random words and sticking them together usually makes for a pretty shitty band name. Case in point:

Limp Bizkit

Need I say more?

Wayne how long does it take for your fingers to harden from playing guitar. I'm learning Major and Minor chords right now. I'm getting muffled sounds on my acoustic because I can't press the fucking string hard enough, my fingers are in pain.

You should get a good callus after a month or so.

EDIT: And I can't speak for the other band names up tharr, but some of mine have significance for me. Atmospheric Perspective is when things far away from you in an artwork look blurry and gray. This has some significance for me because thats sort of the way I feel about my future. Its my least favorite of the ones I've come up with, but the most meaningful to me. Space Invaders came to me because I was playing it in an arcade while listening to the Who, and right when daltrey says "Meet the new boss, Same as the old boss" I killed the last alien on the screen and everything reset itself. It was like a weird awakening for me. And Das Faust... heeheeheeheehee.
