On the 8th I saw OASIS. KASABIAN and JET opened for them.

The show went from 7PM-11:30PM. All the bands did a great job. Oasis sounds better live than on album!

I recommend seeing Oasis and Kasabian live. Good times.

Other good live acts I've seen in recent years -Weezer and Radiohead. I've been told U2 does a good show but I find them really boring.

Trust me, you're not alone. U2 is boring. They always have been. Even when they were exciting and political, and not pompous and self-righteous, they were boring.
In the past few months I've seen the following shows:

Death From Above 1979: Amazing live show. They're loud as hell, and the bass will make you tremble involuntarily.
Strapping Young Lad: Also amazing. They're very charismatic and fun, even though their music is so dark and angry. Possibly the single best metal show I've ever been to.
Horrorpops: The closest I've ever been to seeing a psychobilly show. Also charismatic, fun and just generally a good live act.
Buck 65: I was actually given the opportunity to interview him before the show, and he was one of the nicest people I've ever met. More charisma, more fun, etc.
Kid Koala: The single best DJ I have ever seen live. He's unbelievable. Four turntables, lots of recognizable samples, and the weirdest mixes I've ever heard (see: Radiohead vs. Public Enemy, for instance)
Billy Idol: Anyone who's been near me for more than five minutes knows that I adore Billy Idol, so this was guaranteed to be amazing. Unfortunately, Bif Naked opened for him and sucked to death for about 45 minutes.
Wolf Eyes: Wow. That's all I have to say. Wow.

In the coming weeks I'll be seeing Funeral For A Friend, Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, Converge, and some shitty emo/pop punk band called Day Of Contempt (reference point: they recently toured as an opening act for Good Charlotte) that I'm being forced to go see. I may also go to see Underoath on Monday, and The Stills (almost exactly a year after I first saw them here!) on Friday. I don't know yet.

On October I'm going to watch The Strokes, Elvis Costello and Morcheeba (among others), and on November I have my ticket to a Pearl Jam concert (first time in Argentina). I'll probably take a plane to Rio de Janeiro to watch Nine Inch Nails too, but I'll wait a little bit for that one, just in case they decide to come play down here too.

Don't you just hate that? Bands that never come by your way OR don't tour much to begin with.

Oasis has not been here for ages. Last time they left 30 mins into the set because some stupid sod tossed a shoe at them. Not out of anger but out of stupidity. They were doing an awesome job.

Weezer is GREAT live. Rivers is a bit of a shy idiot, never really interacts with the crowd, but he does sound crystal clear when singing. His lack of stage presence is made up for with a slew of sweet songs. They don't have many albums, for the time they've been around, but they do have a number of hits.

I guess living in Argentina makes it hard for most of the good bands to come your way. I live in Vancouver, I'm suprised we get any one here, having such a small population for a major city.

DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979 are great. I Heard them for the first time last semester! I'm not sure if they would ever come here to Vancouver though. Smaller bands like that tour with caution. Chances are most people here never heard of them.

DFA1979 are actually blowing up a lot right now. And they played Vancouver back in April before heading this way, which is where Reader and I caught them. They're getting a lot of attention (Pitchfork seems to mention their name at least once a week right now) and have managed to sneak their way into regular video play on Much Music, so I'm sure it's almost to the point where their tours will stick primarily to US dates.

I saw Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath at Ozzyfest, Maiden is amazing live but sabbath with the exception of tony iommi wasnt that great. Before that i saw nuclear assault, pretty raucous show.

Not just the good bands: ANY band. Suddenly after almost 2 years of hardly any international concerts, we are having a lot of visitors. Megadeth is just a couple of weeks away, Dream Theater plays on December, Rolling Stones are coming on February, Green Day some weeks after that, and there are rumors that U2, Depeche Mode, David Bowie and Coldplay could be coming sometime soon. Most of those bands, I wouldn't go watch them, but it's nice to see that finally we're getting some tour dates again.

Of course, rumors have a tendency of being just that, rumors...

Jordan, I saw Oasis last year and wasn't impressed. It seemed like they were just going through the motions. How good was Zak Starkey on the drums though!

And I was gutted to miss Kasabian at Glasto this year. Not surprised to hear they rocked.

I've been to two shows now. Both times Oasis blew me away. I'm not sure how his voice/temper was when you went or if the sound travelled well to your section, but every time I've seen them they sound and look great.

Kasabian are very animated. Good stage presence, lots of dancing and talking to the audience. They get you in to it if you're a wall flower. I was jumping up and down singing along, had a blast, they are a GREAT opening act. Help get you in the mood. Did you know they have two singers? I own the album but never knew that til I saw them live LOL.

So I ended up going to see Underoath tonight. It was unbelievable. For a band that I guess would be classified as "emo" (I hate that word), it was incredibly intense. The only thing I've been to that was as crazy and energetic was the Dillinger Escape Plan (whom I forgot to mention when I first posted here).
And also, Underoath are a Christian band, so they're safe for the kids! Everybody wins!

I think I must've caught them while Liam was in a mood. A mate of mine has seen them since and said they were much better.

Nah, I didn't know that. I really wanted to see them and Interpol at Glasto but we'd had some of those special cookies and I was too mashed to move from the tent! rolleyes.gif

I love Interpol. But I downloaded a few live concerts from them and man they sucked. Not so much the band, but more so Paul Banks voice. I read an article on a live show of theirs and the writer said it took like 3 songs to get him sounding right. If they come here I would DEFINATELY go. Just out of loyalty, plus I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and pass off the two recorded shows plus the article. The guitar is just so sweet- so are the drums. Also the Bassist looks like a gay nazi, so I wouldn't want to miss that. He's actually a cool guy, I heard him in an interview, very kind and prissy.

Emo Christian band? Yikes. I hate 'emo' too. When ever I say I like Weezer, people always ask "you're in to emo". NO, I'm in to weezer! Emo music is not my favorite.

Went to see Funeral For A Friend tonight. They were backed with Armor For Sleep and some bands that kind of sucked.

Jordan, re: Oasis albums. Have you got The Masterplan, the B-sides album? Because I think that's on a par with anything else they've done. Just wondered what you thought.

Most big time Oasis fans (the people who followed them since day one) love that album. Before this new album, I considered that one to be their last really good one (came out after What's the story?).

They sing aquiesence (sp?) at shows, that song rocks. Listen up, Masterplan, etc.. Ton's of great tracks. A lot of them are Noel tracks, which is funny cause he didn't sing one track on the first album and only one on the second, so you can see most of his stuff got tossed aside, save DOn't look back in anger.

The album has a great unpolished feel to it, Listen up is very rugged, plays out like a hard rock tune, something that has lacked in recent years from the industry.(main stream)

Underneath the sky is another great track.
