Oh, I can't forget:
- People who refuse to adhere to society and gender constraints placed upon them and embrace individuality over conformity.

Then you would love the Amish. I just read a professional sociological study about them.
Apparently writing about JM here is his secret weakness. Muwahaha!!!! Now I have leverage over him and am another step closer towards my goal of world domination.

Kurgan X showed me this web comic done with Legos. It pokes fun at all six Star Wars films and I found it to be extremely entertaining.

Not quite sure one could describe the Amish as individualists, really. All about community and nifty black hats, see?

I don't really know that much about the Amish, but it seems to me that though they don't adhere to the standards of the culture outside of their community, they do live by very strict standards of their own.

Edit: Speaking of the Amish reminds me of a quote from my current favorite black & white movie...The Lost Skeleton of Cadavera

Skeleton: You must find the atmosphereum.
Animala: Amish Terrarium. Must find Amish terrarium.
Dr. Paul Armstrong: I don't understand. Why does she need an Amish terrarium?
Betty Armstrong: Don't the Amish live in open air, like us?
Dr. Paul Armstrong: Of course, Betty, it's absurd. Putting the Amish in glass cases would be inhumane. smile.gif

"The problem is, you're not a kangaroo... that's a bear... and he's in your pants."
"Maybe artists shouldn't talk about their art."
"Well kids, I guess your father isn't a hermaphrodite."
"Izzy! enough with the rabid smootching!!"

I guess it was just a bad attempt at a joke ... or somrthing else. The Amish are a distict group of the Mennonites. Compared to the rest of America they are quite individualistic, and maintain a common unity. Looking at the group by itself though, they supress individualism to such a degree that any continuous violaters (after baptisement which is performed in the late teens) would be banished in a way. I would have more info on the subject, but I am at school and had left the book at home.

Hmm. I think that some people take the Bible far too literally, but that is a matter of Debate.

I love me Cultural Diversity in American Society class. My professor is awsome.

Yeah, studied the Amish yonks ago. Good call on the beards and barns, not so good on the whole "no technology" thing. I reckon there was a better reason for this post, but meh.
