Bloody hell - he has an army of blue rank pips and a swarm of posts.... I wonder if I could quickly redo my size figures from the old "How Big is Barend"... give me a minute.

Edit - holy fishimahoohoo - 832 members, 90087 total cumulative posts, 108 posts average user, Barend is about 55 times that, and is about 100m tall in cyberspace.
Schick.

Edit Mark Two - and he still has the devil's share of posts... 6.66%

Mne: To get a better average, I'd ignore all the users with less than five posts. For example, 314 members have no posts, hence 518 with at least one. With 90087 posts, that's just over 173 posts per posting member - more than a slight increase, methinks. I won't work out the rest, not enough time.

EDIT: Bugger it, lets average it out without the 1-post wonders. 438 members have under 2 posts, 394 don't. Removing the 124 one-post wonders, 89963 posts creates a 228 post average, which barend towers over by 26 times.

This is what happens when you have an inquisitive mind, a desire to avoid packing, and a Maths A-Level...

Also, the combined total from the top 13 posters is greater than the total from everyone else.

Beat that for pointless-ness!

Don't try and out-pointless me, I will work out the average minus the five-and-under posters. Just not while I'm supposed to be packing.

Why are there so many members with one post or less? Are there that many people that only want to reply once?

I blame the flighty Star Wars kids. They google up Night Life, pop into the SW forum for five minutes, then flitter away. I believe a similar situation, on a smaller scale, also occurs when Yahtzee puts out a new game. In fact, I'd safely bet that about 90% of the members here came either from Reasons To Hate, or Fully Ramblomatic. Hell, I'd put a bollock on the line for it.

I came because of resons to hate, but found that there was so much more to this loverly place...Isn't there some way to delete old members that have never posted? There are quite a few that joined in '04, and haven't been active since...

Edit: you know, it might be interesting to have a poll of what originally attracted the active members, I know that some have it in their profile, but who has the time to read through all of those happy.gif

Well, I came because I was once (and to a degree, still am) a slavering Yahtzee fanboy, and so hopped willingly from the ancient EZBoard forum to here. And nowadays I've even got my own board, so that speaks volumes.

And I think we once did have a poll on who joined why, it told us nothing suprising. Although one day, when I'm very bored and have lots of free time, I'm going to make a spreadsheet, and tabulate everyones reasons. And yes, everyones, hence the free time.

Pretty much the exact same reason as Chyld, only I don't have my own forum now.
Check out my crappy drawings!

Chyld is an ignorant slut.

Same reason as Jane, except I wasn't around for the EZboard days.

Same reason as Dorothy. A friend of mine told me about the "reasons to hate", and stayed a while in the Star Wars forums, but then I realized that the forum was much better outside that section.

Well, you can edit your profile to include the way that you came to the site. I'd be happy to add more profile fields if anyone can think of any interesting ones they'd like to see.
