Wow, lots here to disagree with. First I hope theres a lot of people spitting hate at this majors asshole, since it's most likely that his silly fantasy law would be used to target only Muslims and radicals, and not neo nazis or other people on his side of the spectrum.

Yeah I'd definately call this guy a nazi, and have no qualms about doing so. The second you try to justify deporting (and lets face it, they're going to deport these people to torture centers like Egypt or Saudi Arabia or the US) people who disagree with you, you become a nazi and should no longer be allowed any part in government.

Also, for the people of Australia and Britain, I have a fool proof plan that will ensure you don't have to worry about evil grad students named Abraham any longer:

It's basically a Host\guest situation here on the board, whereas we're talking Nation\citizen. The nation is owned by it's population, so deporting someone for not thinking like the masses is going too far.

This idea that the government can pass laws to make 'inciting hatred' illegal is fucking insane. The antinazi league 'incites hatred' against nazi's, Greenpeace 'incites hatred' against GM farmers, even your local football team 'incites' hatred to some degree.

Threatening to deport these people will end up martyring them, drive their followers underground, and breed a new group of insurgents in the name of free speech.

Perhaps the government should spend more time tryign to work out why they hate us, and doing something about that instead of putting their fingers in their ears and covertly breaking out the thought police

the fact of the matter is, you can't pretend to not notice the charactersitics of an individual on the basis that it may offend a few when they fit the profile in question, when people are getting killed.

you've gotta love the irony that despite it's crimes the western world opens its arms to outsiders who are allowed to believe what they want and what they beleive is that that freedom to believe in what they want is what allows them in to kill a whole bunch of us and when that device fails to detonate properly, a bunch of commuters will help you up and say: "ooh, are you okay? here take a seat, mate."

I agree with what people are saying, and the forum analogy is a good one.

The problem is, there's nothing seriously WRONG with Chefelf forums.

If we were, say, invading the Nuklearpower forums and raping everyone there, that might be a better analogy.

The problem would occur in this theoretical world when the theoretical Chefelf had raped enough 8Bit fans that people on these forums began to speak out.

"Stop raping people at the Nuklearpower forums! You're being an asshole!" We'd theoretically say.

And then, in this theoretical world, Chefelf would be able to ban us for inciting hatred against him, when in fact our concerns would be legitimate.

You see, that's the problem. The government decides who gets kicked out, and these laws would certainly be used against people expressing outrage over legitimate concerns.

Also, I'm glad Chefelf is more like Chefelf and less like George W. Bush, or else I'd have gotten banned for protesting his rape of the Nuklearpower.com forums.

oh yes, people who say "blow up trains" should be dealt with, but inciting violence is already a crime. I think this guys idea is to try to widen that and make it so that if I say "Barend is a dick" and someone throws a rock through your window, I can be deported because I somehow encouraged it.
