QUOTE (barend @ Jul 24 2005, 07:14 PM)

I can't belive I'm getting drawn into this but, kids please. Do not listen to advertisers. Refined white sugar is a killer. Large amounts can be detrimental to your health. The body turns sugar in to acid. The antidote is green leafy vegetables.

Moderation equals survival.

I guess ignoring this thread and hoping it went away on its own didn't help. Dr. Pepper is better, too much soda... it's all been said far too many times, I have to agree with Hecc with this.

O...kay, that came out of nowhere...

People seem to be ignoring the all mighty neutralizer - milk. What's wrong with milk? Or tea, as I have just become increasingly fond of. Soda doesn't mix well with a lot of foods. Acids doubled with acids? Blech. And milk is like a little meal in a glass, you can drink one of those and you won't be as hungry anymore. And it's all-natural people, no funky chemicals or unpronouncable substances in it! That stuff's good for you!

(If this sounds a little off-form from me, blame my weird mood.)
Check out my crappy drawings!

First of all in response to the original post in this thread
No - mountain dew is not trying to tell you something. The human mind likes to think it is in control, but the body and the unconscious function is actually smarter than you are - when your mind gives your body something that makes it sick (shedloads of mountain dew), your body retaliates, and the next time your mind goes "here, drink this" your body goes "how bout no" and gives a warning - say the queasy feeling you get when you open the bottle of mountain dew. Your body is actually setting up a biological countermeasure to you introducing a potentially noxious substance to it.

Also - though you are the mountain dew man - I can't stand the stuff unless it is in the green bottle that makes it look like a normal drink - once outside the bottle it looks like a horror movie prop.

finally - what's with the whole carbonated drink thingy - what's wrong with water (the drink I drink the most) or, as Jane said, milk... just make sure it came from a cow that wasn't GE or on the more esoteric steroids cause their milk is nasty. Or old drinks like lemonade or ginger beer. I have to say Arius is probably a health food nut, and ignorant of what the body actually does do with sugar, or what sugar is, but Arius is right with the moderation thing.

Snow Cones are awsome too, if it were not for the Snowie stand near my house, I would not be able to survive this summer.

Ah, you must be referring to some magical milk that I've not seen in stores yet. The stuff I see is pumped full of chemical supplements and preservatives to make it "healthier", which is why I rarely drink it.

Hippie stores, dude. Hippie stores. Unhomogenised and unpasturised milk. It's like drinking cream but not nearly so cloying and sickly.

Probably full of bugs but what the hell.
