"I don't seem to remember ever owning a droid..."
You don't remember this little guy who was by your side throughout the Clone Wars and the collapse of the Old Republic? Old age seems to be affecting Kenobi's memory...

Right, nor does R2 remember Obi-wan or Owen and Beru Lars.

Padme owned R2.
Obiwan rented R4.
Also do they ever explain how the Jedi fund themselves?
Is it all Senate donations. The ships, the temple that all must cost something.
Maybe they get part of the Galactic milatary budget?

Well, Ben has a history of being very literal (i.e. Darth murdered your father). So he was just being honest when he said he didn't remember owning R2. If R2 had said he once had many adventures with Obi-Wan he would probably have said, "Oh yes. Many great adventures. How are you, my little friend?"

Im pretty sure R2 remembers tatooine because he was knew exactly where to go. but he probable didnt care about owen or beru for two reasons
1. he only met them for a split second.
2. he was preocupied with finding obi wan.

Artoo probably knew the secret recipie of the blue milk Aunt Beru was known for, hence the reason for the Empire's search. The entire Death Star plan thing was just a cover. Vader got nostalgic for some of Beru's hooch, most likely the only thing he could ingest.

I think I mentioned this before, but in the PT Jedi are not technically allowed to own any materials. And besides, R4 flies with Obi-Wan, not R2-D2.
While I was watching ESB on Sunday, it occured to me that R2 flies with both Anakin and Luke Skywalker. R2 has always seemed like kind of a bastard to me, so I guess I could see him not volunteering any information to Luke about his father. However, for the sake of continuity, maybe it would have been wiser to erase BOTH R2-D2 and C-3PO's memory.
