I am currently depressed. First, I was depressed because I had an inexplicable hallucination about my dead cat. Then I was depresssed because I read the new Harry Potter book, Then I read this. I figure other people need to complain, even if it is about me, which it very well may be, so I created this thread to help them. I miss my cat.

Depression's a bitch and it ruined my fucking life. And is still doing so. At least I can go outside now without hyperventilating, and I no longer cry for an average of six hours out of every day. And the days where I fervently wish I could die have been less freqent the last year or two, and I'm eating with semi-regularity. I hope this means I'll continue to improve to the point where I can function like a real person. Not betting on it though. Still nowhere near normal. Only reason I'm still alive is the worlds I made in my head. Thank god for those.

"Loneliness has been the curse of my life. What should I have
done if my imagination had not been my companion? I must have grovelled
on the earth. I must have died. But my dreams... my darling, bright
dreams..."

This was probably not a good day for me to notice this thread.

Suggestion:
Get a LiveJournal.
Sorry to see that you're bummed out over...things, but is a public forum really the best place for expressing this?

Fuck off. I feel shit and feel like bitching. I don't do it that often since most people make it plain that they find it so distasteful, so indulge me this one time.

Well I figured it was a safe assumption, since Otal does in fact have a blog.

I do complain on my blog. It just gets lost somehow. My friend must have stolen my password. I was actually starting this to help people who don't have a blog.

Fair enough, but to be honest let's look at some possibilities here:

22blog: Free
LiveJournal: Free
EasyJournal: Free
Blogger: Free
Tripod Blogs: Free
Xanga: Free
Myspace (which has a LiveJournal-esque blog in every account): Free
Getting a 50megs account and a copy of Greymatter: Free

Whatever, go ahead and complain. I'm not stopping you, just saying that this may not be the best place to do it is all.

Some people don't like blogs. I was doing this a request from a friend.

Full credit for doing this dude. We all battle from time to time with the blues, I won't go into my own personal histoy but I was phenomally fucked for more than a few years and it was a measure of personal acceptance that helped me out in the end, so kudos for having the balls to write what you did - and you to Rhubarb.
Why not have a bitch on this thread? I say go for it.

I'm not really depressed.
I simply have come to accept that this life leads nowhere (just to its' own end) and we're all, by ourselves, pretty insignificant.
So I, basically, try to help other people whenever I can.

I do get really anxious, almost panicky, when I *really* start to think about death.

Rhubs: You're cool people! You just seem a little stand-offish and some people don't take that well. Like I said with your and your mace...

Lesse... The entire world seems to be full of automatons that only care about what happens to their favorite celebrities instead of anything important. Our economy is descending further into a bottomless pit and the masses are oblivious. We have an industry based on entertainment rather than art, and so all creativity and integrity is stifled in the name of marketability.

Just what exactly is this supposed to accomplish?

Depression is an unusual thing. If someone were to take a surface inspection of my outlook on life they'd think I was really depressed.

I'm not - I'm a happy guy.
I'm a pessimist, you see - I believe things are inevitably going to get worse. Much worse - and not just the bit about Arnie becoming President. But because I'm a pessimist, I am happy. Because I believe that things now are better than they will become, and thusly I enjoy myself and am fairly happy.

Still - one of the most interesting things about depression is sunlight.
Seriously - I have a high light sensitivity, borderline photophobia.
And so I used to do the 'avoid light' thing - and at the same time was depressed. Then, after a bit of unavoidable sunlight, I felt better.
Simple lesson - a human is fairly advanced chemistry, but they are still chemistry. Melatonin is a deadening hormone - it produces fatigue and depression, and causes everything from general sleepiness to cranky tots to the dull feeling when you wake up tired and seem incapable of emotion. You are! That's part of why more people are born in winter than any other season - because its nine months after spring, where the extra sunlight dose kicks in and leaves people feeling better.

If you get the blues there are several solutions.
1) Sunlight - but dont get burned.
2) Find someone worse off than you and laugh heartily if you're that kind of person, or help them if you're the other kind.
3) Find someone better off than you and trip them with a prybar.
4) Find a lighthearted game that involves violence and thinking.
5) Win a lottery.
6) Buy me a car.

Any model in particular, fellow pessimistic one? smile.gif
