I'm going to absolutely mutilate a Billy Connoly quote here: "What's the point of showing me a forest fire in Japan on the news? I'm not going to be able to get on a plane, and go and put it out! And even if I did, it'd be out by the time I got there!"

And also, its the whole "its not happening to me" thing. There's a reason people who visit, say, starving Africans have a revelation on the matter then, rather than after just seeing it on the TV: it just isn't real.

Dorothy: laugh.gif Damnit, now I've got to do better than that! Most of my anecdotes revolve around alcoholic memory loss and "You look like Mick Jagger!"...

Complaining: Lack of good anecdotes at college besides maybe
- The best omlettes ever require:
- Omlette stuff
- 3 or 4 friends
- Breaking into another dorm building to use their kitchen at 3am on a Saturday morning.

I'm either not getting my money's worth at college, or I'm more of a useless lump than I normally consider myself.

I have a habit of being a complete wanker at times.

The United States is more concerned about two men kissing in public than starving children in Africa or child soldiers in the Congo (country, not geographic region), or homelessness/unemployment stateside, for that matter.

Rhubs: Arr... fair enough (see above), though I've never met any non-defeatist/unapathetic nihilists with the exception of you and Patrick... And as an open Discordian, I practically worship the chaos and disorder inherent in the universe. My apologies to you both, and may the curse of Greyface never befall you.

Complaint or more of a fear rant. Just about two hours ago Perla's mom (Alex's granny) called me and threatened to kill me. She found out that I contacted Childprotection after her boyfriend tried strangling Perla while she was still pregnant.

Normally this wouldn't bother me a whole lot, but, she's mentally unstable and has beaten up people for less. So, I am at the moment, trying to find out how to get all my friends to be nearby all the time. Armed.

So if I get you right, she threatened to kill you, because you were trying to stop her daughter being strangled by someone else?

Thanks all, it's really just, surreal and scary at the moment.

Floppy, I would if I could but they're illegal around these parts. Atleast I won't get shot.

Buy a dog. Preferably a big one, that has three heads and breathes fire.

I suggest, if nothing else, a well-sharpened penknife. New if possible. Or a kitchen knife, if needs must. But a penknife is a bit more explainable.

My computer stopped dectecting my primary harddrive. Urg. I still have my storage drive, so I kept all my music and movies, but everything else is gone. Bought a new one, installed windows again, but now everythings difficult. I had the computer set up the way I liked it before and seeing as I did it years ago, I have no idea how to get it back. Great.
