Politically-charged dancehall courtesy of a lovely young English/Sri-Lankian woman.

This week: Beck - Odelay, and The Shins - Oh Inverted World. Over and over and over again. I have probably antagonized most of my hall by now.
Head Gunner for the Royal Sloop Crimson Steel, Queen of the Dead, Instigator of Chaos and Confusion, Knight of the Grand Recursive Order of the Lambda Calculus, and also The Non.

Remember Emu's face, people; one day it's going to be on the news alongside a headline about blowing some landmark to smithereens, and then we can all sigh and say, "She was such a normal person".....
....We'd be lying though.

Interpol- Indie rock (been heavy on them for half a year now)

Blondie- Fun chick music that does not make me feel gay

Fiona Apple- Alternative to blondie, I love her voice

Depeche Mode- Bringing back violator=so many hits!

Stone Temple Pilots- I think they deserve more street credit. Their songs are easily some of the most recognizable from the 90's. Big on the song Sour Girl right now.

Bloc Party- I think the head singer sounds like a louder Damon Albarn, but this band is awesome.

The Pixies- I hated this group for years. I finally sat down and tried to swallow 3 of their albums over a week period, because if Nirvana and Interpol drop their names then they MUST be good. I listened to Surfer Rosa, Doolittle, and Trome le Monde. ---------> River Euphrates is good on so many levels. Mr. Greives, Alec Eiffel, La La Love you etc... This group just blows my socks off with their sound.

David Bowie- I've always liked this guy, but I listened to the album LOW for the frist time last week. The production on that album is sweet, but I was really upset that Bowie decided to NOT sing on over half of the songs.... Be My Wife-good track

Does any one have any suggestions for INDIE ROCK BANDS? Thanks.

Ah, Jordan you were doing so well, but I've got to step in here. James Blunt is so goddamn awful it hurts!

Sorry, I don't usually slate another man's choices, hell its personal taste, but every time I hear this guy it makes me want to chew my own ears off, which because its impossible just infuriates me even more!

Anyway, I can't remember if I've mentioned this band here before but try Stellastarr's self-titled debut album. Its a bit new-wave/indie with some great guitar hooks and deceptively haunting lyrics. Its one of my favourite albums of the last few years, I'd be interested to hear what you think.

Shit, thanks a ton hec! Death From Above 1979 = very good.

Walking, I'm going to have to agree with you. WISEMEN is a good track, but the album is mostly whiney shit.

Stellastarr? I'll give it a look

I just got in to the Gorillaz. I never even heard of them till hec's music forum revealed them to me. They rock! Hearing Del and Damon on the same track nearly blew my mind!

My current musical obsessions are all over the place.

David Bowie (who also covered the Pixies, with "Cactus"), Depeche Mode, The Arcade Fire, The Cure, The Notwist, Between the Buried and Me, Gaelic Storm, Five Iron Frenzy, Pain (the ska group, not the heavy metal group), Enigma, Al DiMeola, Fourplay, and Trans-Siberian Orchestra are the must-haves on my playlists lately.

And I know this is superficial, but I would also enjoy the Decemberists except that the lead singer pronounces his R's like W's, and it just really grates... pinch.gif I'm sorry, I can't help it!
I am writing about Jm in my signature because apparently it's an effective method of ignoring him.
