Corvax: Wow, you're pretty jaded. :P I'm generally more attracted to men who are scruffier, and almost invariably nerdy and quite thin. Whether this is a conscious choice or whether all the cool guys I've known were broke is uncertain though.
And the 'good genes' thing does apply to men, as Jen says. Men go for chicks who seem better-groomed, or whatever, but women go for guys who have windswept hair and stubble and blah because they seem adventurous and tough. The sort of guy who kicks ass in the Matrix, kinda thing. You can mention wallets and stuff, but frankly that's a pretty bleak view of humanity, and I speak here as someone who loathes 90% of the human race. Check out the magazine pinups for the lastest 'hottie' trend... which currently seems to incorporate hair gelled into a boatprow and shirts that look like pyjamas. Dunno how the fuck genetics works into that.
Now that I think about it, I consider intelligence, empathy, and independent-mindedness to be more important commodities in anyone, and I'd want any kid of mine (god forbid) to possess those traits, so that's probably why I'm more attracted to lanky nerds... they're generally more smart/cool/embittered than, say, members of Boyzone. I'm also fiercely class-conscious and non-conformist, so that'd be where the 'scruffy' aspect comes in... implies that the person in question doesn't care that much about fitting in and prefers to be individual (assuming that they aren't just scruffy cos they're gross slobs or something).
I psychoanalyse myself!
