The DVDs of the original trilogy feature a commentary on Vader in Episode III and features a bunch of Lucas's pompas twits talking about how the screen had never seen a symmetrical Vader mask before. This was already a stupid attitude given that no one I knew had ever noticed, but the handling of Vader in ROTS makes it even more ludicrous. Vader is either staggering and yelling 'Nnnnoooo!!!' or seen from the side on, and only for a few seconds at that. Even if the mask hass now been magically made in a brand spanking new symmetrical way, who the hell can tell? huh.gif

The Vader costume changes in all three movies in the OT, making up a new mask with all the new high tech means makes little sense unless its for the future 3D project or TV series (whatever that's going to be about, maybe even Vader won't be in it). Seems to be a lot of trouble to go through to get Hayden's mane into the thing so he as you stated yells the girlish "Noooooo!!!!!!".

Yeah, I saw that little featurette. The thing that galled me the most was how Lucas gave in to Haden's pleas and allowed him to wear the Vader suit. He looks absolutely puny compared to Dave Prowse. Of course, when I watched the feature Ep. 3 wasn't out yet, so I didn't know what a tiny role Vader would play...

Shrike, THANK YOU!

In the interview I gave about Episode III I actually brought this up but it didn't make it to the final article.

I saw that feature and it's absolutely stupid. They go into agonizing detail about how much time and energy they spent in getting a symmetrical Vader mask. This, to me, is emblematic of the direction of the new prequels focusing too much on squeaky clean special effects an not enough on an actual story.

You'd never be able to tell it was even symmetrical, it's only for the benefit of the idiots making the mask.

Yeah, if only they could've put that kind of energy towards writing some dialogue that doesn't induce an outbreak in cringes.

In agreement here. The time spent on discussing their symmetrical Vader is like all the talk about digital effects in the films. Yes, it's there. Yes, it's improved. But the bottom line is the story not the technology.

I probably wouldn't have noticed that Vader is more symmetrical, nor would I car.

Our faces are not symmetrical. It's what gives us character and a uniqueness. Our faces are our masks.

More waste of energy.

Right. I'm not going to go so far as to say I would notice the change to the mask but the asymmetrical mask seems like a better idea in theory. Human minds are good at calculating differences like that, even if they can't put their finger on it.

Are you guys insane? Did you guys NOT know that Bob Anderson who wore the Vader suit during the entire duels in ESB and ROTJ, was a similar build to Hayden, and the same height as Hayden (6'1") .
They didn't just slap a suit on Hayden, the built one specifically, with a padded muscle suit underneath, as he said in a few interviews. He wore lifts just as Anderson did in ESB and ROTJ.

These forums remind me a lot AICN talkback, people want in "all their ways" and whiny about how Lucas raped their childhood because he didn't bow to their ways. (There are so many million "my ways".)

To quote Erik's RotS review, I don't "feel that George Lucas “raped my childhood,” as the saying goes? No, not at all. He may have fondled me a bit like a drunk uncle at a family reunion," but what he has done with Star Wars is still disgusting.

"Then we must assume that Lucas is not human
This guy have the mind of one of that stupid army droids."

No, he's far stupider than that.

Actually, I've notice it's pretty much a big bashing forum more than anything else. These films would have been bashed no matter what. At least ROTS has 82 percent good reviews.

Well why don't you take your toys back and go and play in a forum that appreciates the fact that ROTS gendered 82 percent good reviews?

I guess that sums it up, it's a "Bash or get out." forum.
