Discovery channel had a show called "the gratest american" hosted by matt lauer that aired on June 5th, 2005. Jesus! what an opportunity to whitness the shallow and ignorent views of an increasingly delusional society right here in the USA. I mean, people actually voted to have Operah winfrey as the 9th greatest american...of all time! She beats FRANKLIN ROOSEVELT at #10! and albert einstien at #15. # fucking 9! and for what america? what has she done for us. been a once poor lady who rose to media moguldom by self agrandizing and hyping herself while dispensing pithy superficial anacedotes on a daytime talkshow talk show biased towards women! what on earth are you smoking america?! have you forgoten the true greats of our nation? the woodrow wilsons, the andrew carnegies, the ones who have suffered and sweated and given all their hearts to better our country?! its not just oprah, there is a plethora of people who, in any reasonably educated american citizen's judgment, should never reach it to the top million (ellen degeneres! and in the top 75!!!) , let alone hundred. I know in my heart I am right. Is the media failing our country? Go to this link for more: http://en.wikipedia....eatest_American

Well, she gives free shit away on her chrismas special.

I'd be pretty suspect of who was actually voting though.

Don't read too much into these television polls, it'll just annoy you. I sat through 3 hours of "The Greatest Male Artist (as in musical artist) of the 20th Century" on VH1 a while back, expecting an exciting battle between the likes of Dylan, Hendrix, Elvis, and the like.

At number one...........Robbie bleedin' Williams.

Trust me, they're always full of crap.

Robin Williams? I didn't know he even made music. Of course, I should've known better. Every person nowadays who becomes even remotely popular for any reason gets a musical carrear.

Observe.

Dammit, I paid nearly twice that for the bonus DVD(!)

I take it Robbie Williams hasn't 'cracked' America yet then? Wow, I'm jealous, I wish I hadn't heard of him.

Hehehe...
Not Robin Williams the movie actor... Robbie Williams, the ex-member from Britain's boy band Take That.

Here's the difference:

Robin Williams

Of course Robin Williams can't play Mork, he's too old.

So this guy, Robbie Williams, is going to star in the film treatment of Mork and Mindy? Mork calling Olson, come in Olson.
Cool, I've been waiting for a film version. Who's going to play Mearth? I think Cedric the Entertainer would be perfect, but then Mindy could be played by Vivica Fox. Did they pick a Mindy yet?

Wow, that is a bullshit list. And Ronald Reagan beats out Abraham Lincoln for number one. And among the list of nominees is Bob Hope, Tom Hanks, and sickening anti-semite Henry Ford.

And, of course the actual greatest American ever, John Brown, doesn't even make the nominees list.

Even if he's a racist, I can understand Ford being on the list. I mean, the guy invented the car, right?

Close, he improved the car and it's manufacture.

Some of those make sense, but George Lucas? Oprah? Donald Trump? I can just imagine if those got into the finals.

"You should pick George Lucas because he created Star Wars."

"You should pick Oprah because she's an inspiration to us all"
"How so?"
"I don't know. Just seemed like the right thing to say."

"Pick Trump. He's rich"

this woman as an hour a day to discuss anything.

what does she use such an impressive platform for?

"today, we're going to look inside what's in my wardrobe at home"

"Let's see what kind of things i have in my fridge"

yep...

with all that's going on, you really have to wonder if western civilisation is worth dying for...

(sigh)

I'm surprised that No one has pointed out the travesty that Bill Clinton was beaten out by George W. (by one slot, both in the top ten.)

Whichever side you're on, that's an argument the list has no credence. tongue.gif

The fact that either is in the top 25 is a fucking disgrace.

Yeah. Lists on TV shows are never good, specially those on E!

Some people don't deserve to be on that list.
Sorry, you won't be seeing a smartass sig here. Try with the next poster.
