While I was looking for help with Far Cry (you try beating the last level. I still haven't done it...) I found this guide:

This guy claims to have a computer with the minimum specs for Far Cry.

Windows 98/2000/XP
1ghz PIII or Athlon Processor
256 MB RAM
64mb DirectX9 video card
Directx9 Sound card
4gb hard drive space

Windows XP
PIII 933mhz
384 mb RAM
128mb GeForcefx5200 video card
40gb hard drive

He says that he used a series of tweaks and tricks on his computer to bring up the framerate with the settings on fairly high settings.

I run Far Cry on the above machine at the following settings:

RESOLUTION: 1024x768
AA: none
TEXTURES: High
TEXTURE FILTER: Trilinear
AF: 1
PARTICLES: High
SPECIAL EFFECTS : High
ENVIROMENT QUALITY: High
SHADOW QUALITY: Medium
WATER QUALITY: High
LIGHTING QUALITY: Low (not because of FPS but becuase anything above low
causes weird negative effects indoors)

FRAME RATES: Indoor  - 60+
      Outdoor - 28 (heavy battle with water and a lot of backround) -
        41 (walking around in jungle)

If you know anything about computers and have seen any shots from Far Cry, you'll know this is amazing- and probably impossible.

However, I would advise you to read his guide and follow some of the basic tricks that he will tell you about. They're things you can do easily, even if you know nothing about computers, and will definitely help with framerates.

I just thought I'd share this with you guys, seeing as most of you don't exactly have top of the line computers...

Yeah, floppy you have to remember that Gamefaqs and their authers don't like anyone to link directly to the faqs themselfs. You can link to the game page though (the one that links to all the faqs) and that would be kosher.
