With public sentiment finally turning against the ongoing war, it was high time them terrorists did something to justify the occupation! Especially since them terrorists are claiming to belong to an organisation that has no affiliation with Iraq! Way to go, Big Brother!

Not necessarily what I believe, but I do like to state the possible.
"I had a lot of different ideas. At one point, Luke, Leia and Ben were all going to be little people, and we did screen tests to see if we could do that." -George Lucas, in STAR WARS: the Annotated Screenplays (p197).

It's all a bit depressing. The US - as the world power - has been at war constantly since the end of WWII. Eisenhower himself in his closing address said that the US should watch out for, what he called, the 'Military Industrail Complex', a very large profitable business that relies on war to survive.
Orwell wrote that in order for a nation to gain control over it's citizens the easiest option was to go to war. In war time freedom's are willingly set aside, people are willing to take shit as long as it's for the good of 'our boys'.

This 'war' has been going on for nigh on fifty years now ...

It will continue, people will die, much more dark skinned than light skinned, politicians will use it to justify restrictions of rights, larger and larger military budgets, and us lucky westerners will continue relatively unaffected. From time to time someone we know will be hurt and it will shakes us up a little, their will be a flag parade and a concert and we will go back to our latte.

It's depressing, but it's true.

What can we do???

I dunno. I'm off to sponser a third world child, not much but at least it's a little.

I can name a few things, but they would black flag me big time.
This space for rent. Inquire within.

You should name them dude, I would genuinely appreciate some options.
I am slowly sliding from apathy to basic nihilism.
As Billy Connolly says "Why do they tell me there is a fire in Tokyo? Even I, and I'm fuckin rich, can't do fuck all about it! Even if I rented a fucken jet and flew over with two buckets of water ... the fire would be out by the time I get there!"

There is seemingly a need to keep us all informed ALL day AT ALL TIMES about things that don't effect us, except in the sense they scare us shitless and propell us to give more shit up to help the cause.

In the end, if we give up our freedom for the fight, then what the hell are we fighting for!

I was caught up in the evacuation of Birmingham City Centre last night. For anyone who hasn't caught the news, 20,000 people were evacuated and controlled explosions were carried out after the police received a 'credible threat to public safety'.

However they don't believe it was related to the London bombings on Thursday.

Case in point.
