In The Phantom Menace, Quigon says at one point, referring to Anakin's virgin birth:

"It is possible he was conceived by the midichlorians."

??

WHICH midichlorians is Quigon referring to? Shmi's? Anakin's (which don't exist yet)? Or are there also non-symbiotic Midichlorians floating around that can do stuff? I'm confused but also don't care that much.

Midichlorians don't exist. They simply don't exist. They never existed and they'll never exist. I don't know why people imagine that midichlorians existed.

But in topic...

I think that Anakin was conceived by the will of the Force (Remember that MC don't exist). It was his destiny to bring balance to the Force and the way he brought balance was leaving 2 Sith (Vader and Sidious) and 2 Jedi (Obi-Wan and Yoda).

It really isn't worth caring about since its so silly. I still go for the fact Shimi lied and had a one night stand with Darth Plagarius after one too many Jawa ales and is too ashamed to admit it to Qui Gonn. ROTS basically says who the father might have been

its kind of a science thing. like today the whole god and evolution debate, you know. you never hear yoda talking about them, nor obi wan. qui gon is a very scientific jedi and explained the force scientificly. while after the fall of the jedi, yoda and obi wan felt to fully explain the force, they should do it the way they did. im not trying to make excuses, but they never say in the movies that the midichlorians are a fact. they are just a theory that some gay scientist jedi made up.

George Lucas = Some gay scientist Jedi.

And how can they not be "real" if they do some kind of blood tests or whatever that check your count? It may be stupid that they created these things for the new movies, but just because it's not consistent with the original movies doesn't mean that Lucas didn't intend for them to completely explain the force.

I doubt he created this explanation with any regard for the original trilogy. I think it's really forcing things to think that maybe certain Jedis don't believe in it or that it's some kind of issue in the Star Wars world or something.

Sure, that might have been the case if there was ANY mention of it in the new movies, but there wasn't.

rohipnol...

we have it today, i imagin the have stun guns in SW somewhere...

why did one have to resot to "maipulating the midichlorians to create life itself"

was shmi so unnattractive...?

it's like lucas came up with MCs just so he could have the virgin birth explained, which he had just so he could have the MCs...

what a waste of time and resources...

I think if I were a Sith and wanted to create a child strong in the Force, I would opt to do so in a method that might dupe the Jedi into thinking the boy was the "Chosen One" spoken of in their legends.

Yeah - but you wouldn't do some weird random artificial impregnation of a random person and hope against hope that the Jedi would somehow detect it...
If you were going to make the false Chosen One - you'd impregnate a female Jedi, so that the Jedi would have no choice but to notice it.

Sidious Plan A: Arranges for the 'chosen one' to be born to Shmi Skywalker on Tatooine, in order for the Jedi to discover, take the child and train him in accordance with their prophecy.

Sideous Plan B: Unrelated to plan B, Sidious orders the Trade Federation to have two Jedi ambassadors killed.

This plan fails, and the two Jedis escape and have to make an emergency stop on Tatooine, where they encounter the young Anakin Skywalker, whom they adopt and train as a Jedi.

This doesn't add up. Plan A succeeded purely because Plan B failed.

If this is the case then Sidious is as lucky as he is stupid.

They do, Leia uses on in ANH.

it's like lucas came up with MCs just so he could have the virgin birth explained, which he had just so he could have the MCs...

Lucas came up with this so he wouldn't have to create a backstory for his backstory. He's a total lazy schlub. He just didn't want fans clamoring for the pre-prequels.

What? Is he incapable of saying, "no, I won't do that?" He seems to say it easily enough to the O-OT being on DVD.

All I know is I haven't seen the real prequels yet.

your question cannot be answered.

ROTS suggests that Papatine manipulated the MCs inside Schmi.

QG susspected that she just sat on some and got preggers...
