Lucas trashes the EU, but ironically he now uses it to fill al the plot holes and he even uses it to make Grievous cough in ROTS. Kill him!

Personally, I don't care anymore about Lucas or anything else. I just can't wait to get Episode III on video and end this chapter of my life that's dealing with Star Wars.

Even the games won't mean much to me... despite the fact that I liked Kyle Katarn far more than any other OT or PT character around. He'll always be my favorite Sci-Fi hero... until someone better comes along, anyway! biggrin.gif

KATARN IS THE MAN. He is my favorite Jedi ever! Jedi Outcast is the true showcase of a Jedis abilities!

I love it when Lucas trashes the EU.  Most of that stuff is just garbage that takes away from the significance of the movies anyway.  The authors always make their characters and plot devices more powerful than the previous books/movies.  Jedi turn to the Dark Side and come back every other day.  Every smuggler flies a ship exactly like the Millenium Falcon except for a few differences.

Lucas is a megalomaniac though.  I just roll my eyes whenever he goes on one of his "I'm a mythic storyteller, I tell stories that resonate through the ages" binges.  The one thing the Prequels/Willow/Howard the Duck made clear is that what Lucas brought to Star Wars was the bad dialogue/directing, dumb jokes, ripoffs of other movies, and an occasional brilliant idea.  The guy got incredibly lucky to be where he is.

I would say 60 Percent of the EU maybe slightly more is garbage. Ive always had a thing for Katarns side story, such a great character, wish I could have seen him develop on the silver screen, but playing as him as he grows in videogame form is satisfying. I enjoyed the Dark Empire Darkhorse series as well, even though that garners negative attention from fans and so-called critics alike. THe Grand Admiral Thrawn Trilogy is also pretty cool.

And some of the EU is better than the PT...

The best example is Knights of the Old Republic.

I think George Lucas went crazy from the strain of trying to manage the growing Star Wars franchise, which to be fair was probably a lot more difficult than it looked.

That and the divorce from his wife probably robbed his life of anything resembling real love, thus robbing him of the fuel to really rise to the occasion.
I am the Fisher King.

I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an obi-wan to go.
