Every time I read a George Lucas interview he seems to be talking about his 'vision'. Some interviewers bring up EU stuff that seems extremely relevant to the OT such as Kyle Katarns stealing of the Death Stars plan before A New Hope and Lucas goes on saying he didn't approve of Katarn and his place in the Star Wars Universe. This drives me crazy because Lucas is basically shitting on all the individuals who created the EU good or bad who made money for Lucas selling books, games, action figures etc etc while he sat on his ass for over 20 years in between ROTJ and TPM. I understand that Lucas is the creator of Star Wars, but his words show a lack of respect for the individuals who made him money in between the OT and PT and all the fans who purchased and became fans of some of the EU products. Ive read that the Jedi Knight video game series as well as the KOTOR series is not considered canon by Lucas. I ask why not? He must be jealous because those two videogame series had much better characters than mostly anything he has created. What bothers me a lot as well is he uses the EU stuff when it is most convienent to his so-called vision. Grevious' cough anybody? I bet the sheep asked each other why the hell a cyborg would have cough. Lucas probably thinks they should go buy the Clone Wars cartoon on DVD to gain the complete Star Wars expierence.

I have the Clone Wars cartoon on DVD. Not because it "completes my experience", but because I gotit for free (by filling out online surveys tongue.gif ) and also because I was a big fan of Dexter's Lab and other Gendy work. This looked interesting enough.

And by the way...the Clone Wars cartoon is actually kinda good. Dont watch it nd expect to be BLOWN AWAY....but for what it is, its definately ENJOYABLE.

Yeah, Lucas doesn't seem quite sane to me. At least not most of the time.

I downloaded the Clone Wars cartoon, it is quite enjoyable. Greivous annhliating a group of Jedi isn't though. Volume One was much better than Two for the simple fact that Jedis looked much more like Jedis and not jokes in that season.

I like season 2 more than season 1 because of the fact that Grievous kicks more ass in the second one than in the first one. wink.gif

I haven't seen volume 2 yet, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with vol.1.
I particularly liked the Anakin-Asajj Ventress battle in the rain, the animation in that scene (raindrops sizzling as they fall onto the lightsabers!) was excellent.

As for the original point, I used to think the reason Lucas was so unwilling to acknowledge the EU was because he was worried about continuity errors and inconsistencies. I guess I was wrong!

I also think Lucas has issues with the EU b/c he has some insecurities that people will make comparisons that alot of them are well written and well-constructed. "My vision is the only vision! I am taking my CGI and going home! BAHH!"

I am a fan of Grievous as well, but doesnt it bug you that he is kicking Jedi ass? I mean the guy has no force connection whatsoever yet he is dodging force attacks and multiple lightsaber strikes from several jedi at once. If Lucas was smart he would have left the Sith open to recruit more Dark Jedi rather than just have two and have Grievous be a mutilated Jedi seeking revenge. Then again with the stupid Midicholorian crap Grievous' connection to the force would have been weak because he has lost his entire upper and lower torso minus his vitals. Nonetheless In my universe a Jedis power comes from his mind and Grievious still possessed this. Without any relation to the force Grievous is merely a super charged battle droid whose ability to destroy the Jedi further embarrasses and contradicts what a jedi is and diminshes the extent of their power.

On a completely irrelevant note, did you know an anagram of General Grievous is 'gangling overuse'.

How curious....

My reason to like GG is because the Jedi in the PT are so dam stupid and they deserved to be killed. And a cyborg with 4 lightsabers killing Jedi is more credible than those stupid clonetroopers.

THe Jedi arent stupid, the way Lucas depicts them is stupid. A cyborg with ten lightsabers wouldnt stand a chance against a jedi. It was embarrassing seeing Obi Wan fist fight against Grievous when he could have levitated him and dropped him of the cliff. The Jedi have all these wonderful abilities yet they seem to forget how to use them in life or death situations. And yes I would take Grievous killing jedi over dumb clonetroopers anytime, only becasue I dont have much of a choice though. Its funny gushers will find every reason to love these movies, but what they fail to realize is Jedi got killed by clones, while clones got beat by Ewoks.

LOL!!

You're right, I never thought of it that way.

I, too, get the impression that Lucas is insecure. I just can't fathom what happened to him, and it seemed to happen somewhere inbetween ESB and ROTJ. That's when it all started to go down hill. That's when he divorced his wife. I don't know if there's a correlation with that, but... I guess it doesn't pay to figure out what caused it. I guess it doesn't pay to go on and on about these PT's. I'm so thoroughly disappointed. It's all over now. Why do I keep coming back here? Why do I keep posting when there's no point to it whatsoever....

Sorry...

Personally, I don't care anymore about Lucas or anything else. I just can't wait to get Episode III on video and end this chapter of my life that's dealing with Star Wars.

Even the games won't mean much to me... despite the fact that I liked Kyle Katarn far more than any other OT or PT character around. He'll always be my favorite Sci-Fi hero... until someone better comes along, anyway! biggrin.gif

I love it when Lucas trashes the EU. Most of that stuff is just garbage that takes away from the significance of the movies anyway. The authors always make their characters and plot devices more powerful than the previous books/movies. Jedi turn to the Dark Side and come back every other day. Every smuggler flies a ship exactly like the Millenium Falcon except for a few differences.

Lucas is a megalomaniac though. I just roll my eyes whenever he goes on one of his "I'm a mythic storyteller, I tell stories that resonate through the ages" binges. The one thing the Prequels/Willow/Howard the Duck made clear is that what Lucas brought to Star Wars was the bad dialogue/directing, dumb jokes, ripoffs of other movies, and an occasional brilliant idea. The guy got incredibly lucky to be where he is.
