First of all its been five years since ive accepted christ and i have been a much happier person because of it. i feel sorry for anyone who doesnt believe in God. i recently went to an awsome camp called CDYC(central district youth conference) at calvin college in Grand Rapids Michigan and i have to say watching everyone break into tears over accepting Jesus Christ as their savior was the most amazing expeirience ive ever had. so, who here believes in God and who here is a christian?

I'm a christian. I've kind of back slid a bit. I have not read the bible in years, have never attended church, and don't have any Christian friends.

I'm starting to listen to radio sermons a bit more with DR J Vernon Mcgee.

As of late I'm trying harder to be a better Christian. For a while I found the bible really boring and confusing. I use to like it, but then petered out for a bit.

*sigh*

I used to be christian until I discovered (by my own logic) that it was total bollocks. Since then I've been much happier not going to church and not feeling obligated by the rules of some ancient mythological figure.

Thats the misconception about christianity they see it as a religion...a list of rules and dos and donts but that is not what being a christian is about. As for Jordan i think its great that your trying to get back into things i really do.

The rules are difinitely part of it. If they aren't, try to explain how god is a horrible vengeful figure in the OT (turning people into salt towers, lightning people to death, etc...)

As long as I'm going this way, try to explain why in the NT, god suddenly turns into everybody's best friend and starts forgiving people for stuff he would've smitten them for in the OT.

I'm an agnostic, myself. I think it's too much of a grey area to really say for sure whether or not a divine being exists. I can't deny it, and I can't say for sure that God (Yahweh, Allah, Buddha, whatever) does in fact exist. So I choose to say "Maybe, I'll see when I get there" instead. I have an open mind, and I think people who follow a certain religious belief are tops (aside from Satanism, which is silly, and Wicca, which sort of falls apart once they start talking about magic).
Admittedly, I did consider myself an atheist throughout high school, but I attended a Catholic school, and it was nothing more than petty rebellion at the time.

I am actually an ancient Babylonian deity waiting for this mortal shell I inhabit to grow strong enough to endure the cabalistic rituals that will release me from my fleshy prison... But perhaps I've said too much.

And Icey, that line was classic.

i was baptised a dutch reformist, and went to a dutch reform school, then a catholic school, then a godless public shcool (same one AC/DC went to), then an SDA school, and more or less forced to go to an SDA church which i only continued after high shcool because i liked a girl there, eventually i realized that church couldn't offer me the one thing i really needed... anything! I didn't belong there and i knew it...

so here i am many years later, and the only i do that is vaguley religious is play god on TV, which i'm sure most would consider blasfamous, but i don't care...

i don't fit into religion at all...

it just isn't me, and if your god doesn't like it i'm sure he'll let me know in the most horrible way, later... smile.gif

it's all good...

Christian percussionist raises hand.

I get to play every Sunday night in a variety of venues, with a bunch of great musicians. I can bring the xylo, the congas or a mix kit and praise God, so yeah, that rocks for many. And the collection keeps growing and prospering.

I kind of was never extremely anything - mildly religious and then mildly agnostic... then when people started trying to make a real effort to establish a real religious opinion in me it backfired - from the moment the evangelists started going "and you really really really have to believe in God" it worked the other way... a lot of my best mates are fairly religious people - one of them is a chaplain, and the guys a legend... but whenever people start trying to force their opinions on me I rebel.
So, if you're religious or not, I don't really care - but if you start preaching at me and saying that my way of life is hopeless, leads to damnation and isn't actually a religious position then be prepared for a toasting.
