QUOTE (Zewb @ Feb 25 2006, 02:06 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I view extremely religious people as mindless followers who feel the need to follow the rules and never question their faith.

Just to clarity: I am an EXTREMELY religious person. I wouldn’t say I am a mindless follower who feels the need to follow the rules and never question their faith.

I realize you MUST be talking about mainstream monotheistic religions, so I’m not taking it personally. I just figured I would throw the possibility out there that not all religious people are members of said religions.

I think that Zewb may have meant the sort of person who links everything to religion, and would mention it in every post. Not unlike that one guy a while back who mentioned being gay every post. And made to threads about it.

Oh, that was fun, like it was such a big deal that he was. pinch.gif

I don't think that Zewb really meant what he said as it was said, since that's so hypocritical when compared to the rest of his statements. You can be devout but not rabid and/or zealotous. Some people do think for themselves, too.

"My child, the idea of war is to stop the world from over-populating but not wiping out the human race as a whole"

"So whats up with Death?"

"Death is a part of life that we all must face..."

"...even you?"

"No not me"

"Why not?"

"Becouse I kickass"

Apparently writing about JM here is his secret weakness. Muwahaha!!!! Now I have leverage over him and am another step closer towards my goal of world domination.

"And the Evil that was vanquished shall rise anew. Wrapped in the guise of man shall he walk amongst the innocent and Terror shall consume they that dwell upon the Earth. The skies will rain fire. The seas shall become as blood. The righteous shall fall before the wicked! And all creation shall tremble before the burning standards of Hell!" - Mephisto

Kurgan X showed me this web comic done with Legos. It pokes fun at all six Star Wars films and I found it to be extremely entertaining.

I used to not even believe that there was a Jesus, but now I've turned round to the opinion that was almost certainly a Jesus. However, I don't believe he was the son of god.

Well, I think that JESUS definitely existed, and if there is a heaven, he's probably up there going...

"That's not what I meant."

You know, this reminds me of a song I heard once.

QUOTE ( Some country singer named Phil)
Hey, this is God
Can I please have your attention
There's a need for intervention
Man, I'm disappointed in what I'm seeing
Yeah, this is God
You fight each other in my name
Treat life like it's a foolish game
I'd say you've got the wrong idea

Oh, all I'm asking for is love
Well I've seen you hurt yourselves enough
Oh, I've been waiting on a change in you

Yeah, this is God
I've given everything to you
But look at what you do
to the world that I created
This is God
What's with this attitude and hate
You grow more ignorant with age
You had it made, now look at all you've wasted

Oh, all I'm asking for is love
Oh, I've seen you hurt yourselves enough
Oh, I've been waiting on a change in you, yeah

I know your every thought, your heart and soul and every move
There are so many consequences to the things you do

All I'm asking for is love
Haven't you hurt yourselves enough
Oh, I've been waiting on a change in you
A change in you, oh
This is God

Maybe one day I'll finally get round to posting my post about how large parts of New Testament aren't true and can be proven to be largely false. Only the parts in the gospels about Jesus' birth, life and death of course. I'm not going to touch on the rest of the New testament yet.

What do you mean "Can be proven false." Were you there, was anyone there that is alive today??? YOU can't prove anything.

Well, external knowledge that we know from other people around at the time.

Examples: The New Testament's potrail of Pontius Pilate directly conflicts everything we know about him, and what everyone at the time thought of him.

Main reason for this: Pilate is suppose to hesitate to condemn Jesus until the Jewish crowd insists. But that directly conflicts everything we know about the Roman occupation of Palestine. The Romans (especially Pilate) murdered Jews by crucifixion on a DAILY basis.

Not only that, but Pilate and the entire Roman Empire had been trying to supress the Jewish Monarchy ever since they took Palestine. Why the hell would Pilate even consider letting Jesus (Messiah aka King of Jews) go, given the fact that he would probably face execution himself for letting a direct threat to Roman power live. The idea is almost treason by Roman standards.

Now, this is also backed up by the fact that Jesus was crucified, not stoned. Telling us that it was not the Jews that wanted Jesus killed. Infact, this fact is so obvious, even the Mohammad tried to correct in his chronicles of Jesus' life saying that he was stoned not crucified, to make the Jews, not the Romans, the enemy (Jesus being a Prophet of Islam).

I could keep keep going all day, but I have History homework to do, so I'll clear any questions you might have later, aswell as post more problems.

That is a poor example based off of inaccurate assumptions. They killed Jews, sure, but that does not mean that he would kill the son of God so easily, right. The Romans were superstitious after all.

No they weren't. They were polytheistic. They couldn't have cared less. Yet the thing was, that Jesus was quite popular. Imagine if someone attempted to kill Jonas Vigar. Nobody'd care. Same does not go for Michael Jackson though... ... ... eh... okay, bad example, but you get the point, right?

Although there is no evidence to support the idea Jesus is the Son of God, either biologically, or historically, for ease of sticking to one subject at a time, I'll assume that he is the case.

Why would the Romans believe was the son of god? Few romans were Jews, I can't think of any Roman jews, but there probably were. Because of the nature the belief, no non-Jew before Christianity was formed could believe that Jesus was the son of god. Meaning that the Romans, probably believed it was some bullshit.
