I was looking to get the particular forum specific to my problem. My issue is general disdain for what George Lucas did to the film series (starting with the Ewoks, but ROTJ is nothing compared of what was to come.
I am one of the original Star Wars Geeks ( I saw ANH the day of release in the Newark, N.J. Drive in Theater) and I am part of what kept it going and profitable for all the years until George turned completely to the Dark Side with Episode 1 and Jar Jar Binks. Understand that if we had not bought Star Wars Videos,Games(Board,Video and P.C) and other trinkets, toys etc .... We would not be having these B.B.s as the first trilogy would have been the end of it. But alas we did all those things and kept it alive for Lucas,Lucasarts,et al.
My issue is he gave me a dark Space Opera which changed my life to some degree, for the good. I have had countless hours of watching the original trilogy over and over again(much to the chagrin of my Girlfriend & Wife).I had many days as a boy playing "Luke & Vader" with my best friend Mike and our toy Lightsabers(they were a flashlight with a plastic cone screwed on top with a red or blue piece on top of the bulb.Whatever company made them I owe a debt I can never repay).I too many sleepless nights playing X-Wing,Tie Fighter,Dark Forces
1&2,Mysteries of the Sith and some others that the names elude me right now.The proceeds from these many "Star Wars Things"(just to give you a reference of how retarded I really am I have 4 different sets of the first trilogy)have gone in to George Lucas's coffers. In doing my part to keep G.L. health, wealthy and..... (2 out of 3 ain't bad) since '77, to be give Phantom Menace With JJB as gratitude for my years of loyalty was such a kick in the ass !
Getting back to what was my original question before my rantings, which board is best suited to those of us who want to talk of the WHOLE GRAND BETRAYAL perpetrated by George Lucas and remnants of the Old Soviet Union?

Welcome to the club, Winkdink. You are in good company. Even though there are some gushers intermixed in here, this is a good place to bash, just be prepared to defend your thoughts and yourself.

If you don't like the apologists and want to cut loose, then I recommend The Antechamber?

Well, i'm from Argentina so sorry for my bad writing.
It's a shame what happens with this trilogy, especialy bicouse i feel lucas only care about the new bunch of filmgoers-crapbuyers, the "younglings".
What about us, the adult ones? We grow up, Lucas!!
I mean, there is a lot of movies who are good for fathers and their childrens!
(I just remember Toy Story, all CGi; or X-men, ETC. and i want to cry)
I'm not fan of the originals SW, i fact, i think they are regular films, but the
idea was great!! The jedis, The Force, Darth Vader-father, The space-cowboy-opera-scifi-mith-mixture!
And it work even today!!
So, what we espect after years of espectations, techonology development,
some grat sci-fi flicks to look at, and the evidence that SW belong to the
sacred iconografy of our childhood???!
AN IMPROOVMENT!! OR, AT LEAST
A SAME QUALITY TRILOGY!! OR, AT LEAST
A LITTLE CARE WITH THE ORIGINAL IDEAS!! OR, AT LEAST
TEN GOOD MINUTES!!
FIVE!!
SOMETHING!!
FUUUUCK!

Idon't get it. what happens with this guy? Involution? Devolution? Autism?
I thougth a movie pass a lot of filters, even if you own the company.
I can't blame the distributors bicouse there is granted money, but George's friends... C'mon! The guy is burning alive! He doesn't need th money!
Spielberg, Coppola, somebody call him about minimal artistic integrity!
Was just to convince him about a writer, a director, or at least an advice!
Learn from your own cartoons, for christ's sake!

An idea: Give him The Oscar (or anithing he care of), A special Oscar for The greatest filmaker in History! let him enjoy it for a couple of years... And then take it off from him violently!
That's what we feel, Georgie

Sorry again for my baad english

Firstly, I would like to commend the gentleman who made it a point to apologise straight up for being from Argentina ... just joking.

Wink dink you are not alone. George Lucas goes down in my book as one of if not the greatest film maker sellout of all time. Now he mentions there may be nine!!!!
There is of course little the average cinema goer can do, but we can - nay we must - take every opportunity to bore witless girlfriends, family members, work colleagues, bus drivers, policemen ... with tales of Mr Lucas's fall.

He must be stopped, personally while it makes me cringe, perhaps we can all just curse a little and refuse to buy any more of his shit.

In my little world, the trilogy ended with Empire - which makes it an unusual trilogy mind.

Cry baby Luke is fucked up, Leia and Han own up to their feelings, Obi is dead and Darth rules ... Kick ass ending.

I do think ROTJ really had the potential to knock Star Wars... well, out of this world. It's a shame Lucas let his ego get in the way.

I hope George does not read this, (I wanna keep my job at the ranch) but what's wrong about selling a bit of crap to get rich?

I don`t care Winkdink, and I think your attitude is a bit funny, though there is nothing wrong with it.

Simply ignore PT and you will no longer suffer. Lucas gave you 2 great films, so respect him for this. And I don`t see how Star Wars can change a life of anyone. How would you feel if someone killed George Lucas for his great betrayal? Would you applaud this?

I am assuming that your question of my applauding a G.L. assasination was eith rhetorical or "tongue in cheek". I as many have made the point that it is my ilk that made him what he was and got shit for gratitude. As far as the life changing,I think I made it know it was a small change( I was a 10 year old boy when this occured). As far as Ignoring 1,2 and 3 that is all well and good, but they are what I had held on for so many years. That is where my bitterness flows from.He may have done himself well short term financially, but he shot himself in the foot historically. What I mean by that last sentence is that if he had held to the dark, dirty space opera of the previous 2 1/2 ANH,ESB and part of ROTJ(the duel between Vader and Luke in front of Palpatine still gives me chills)he could have no question held the title of greatest movie series.

I see your point, but for someone who does not like the PT it's not that simple.

For me personally it was 3 great movies (I include ROTJ, it was the first SW movie I saw, so it has a special place, but its not as good as the previous two, just an opinion)

However, ignoring the PT's is not easy, I bought the OT DVD's the changes did not bother me, except the evident changes to connect to the PT. I can't really ignore the PT when I got Hayden in the end of ROTJ Can I? You have to agree with me when I say it's a different experience watching a movie on VHS tape and on DVD.

So I don't have a real problem, by not liking the PT, But I do have a problem watching the OT DVD's

Regards

It is terrible. On the other hand, there are people out in the world dying from starvation. They would give everything to have problems like you.

Yeah, it wouldn't be so bad if we had crappy versions of the OT on DVD now. I want cleaned up versions of the OT without any of the stupid additions. I can deal with, and actually like, the stuff with planes flying around or the cloud city having more stuff going on, but I think right now I'd rather watch scratchy old VHS tapes of the originals.

And I hope there are MORE Star Wars movies. Let's see how crappy it can get!

I still haven't even seen AOTC. I'm too embarrassed to rent it. I saw the last 20 minutes or so on TV though.
I really do want to know my enemy though..

Are you serious? There are people out in the world dying from starvation.Where did that come from? I think that the fact that the old Soviet Empire's Nuclear arsenal is still pointed at us as well, does not factor in to the debate/discussion of Lucas and the movies. From now on we all should preface our gripes with : Althought there is hunger, disease, bigotry, bigamy, poligamy, genocide, molestation, armed robbery, murder, political strife, mysogony(spell check),religious war, chid and spousal abuse, pollution, near Earth collisions from Celestial Bodies,Lawyers, uninsured motorists et al ... I think that George Lucas should have done blah blah blah and so on .............

A befuddled winkdink?

Remember Weird Al's song "Eat It"?

"Don't want no Captain Crunch, don't want no Raisin Bran...Well don't you know that little kids are starving in Japan...so eat it!"

We should all think of that song before we bash Lucas.
