I think he meant that there's some real english-teacher types who get all stuffy if you argue with them about what are good books, what's literature, etc...

I don't think there are any english-teacher types around here though... unsure.gif

I don't see how that requires any explanation. Eventually, some snobby little twat is going to come along and say "Comics aren't real books!" if we leave the comic discussion as a part of the regular Book Club forum. It's inevitable.

Secondly. There's no need for a separate comics forum unless we suddenly get inundated with angry fanboys who need moderation when arguing about the latest batman rewrite. Which based on the number of comic discussions so far, isn't that likely.

Comicbook guys are worse than Starwars people in this respect. There is no way we arn't going to flame each other over the shittyest of things. Hell, one fight almost started in the movie theater betweet Floppy and me over a off hand coment (Still, nobody says ultimate Xmen are just ok around me... nobody still alive).

Well perhaps, but... so what? I think the majority is vastly against that insofar hypothetical person. I mean hell, there's always going to be someone who complains, about any given subject. I complained my ass off about Chefelf's policies, but I was pretty much the only one, and I certainly don't think he should change them just for me. Why should a whole new forum be created just to avoid the sneers of some random 'snobby little twat'? You'd more or less just be agreeing with them.

And you know my opinions on comics/books segregation. A comics forum will enforce the belief that they are different.

Hecc and Kirby - You guys really are just inventing worstcase scenarios here. I'd be respecting your opinions a whole lot more if you just admitted you were in favour of a Comics Forum cos you think it'd be cool to have one.

Rhubarb: I have seen someone get in a fist (ok sissy) fight over who was the real Green Lantern (often between Kyle Rainer and Hal Jordan). I'd just rather not hijack a forum with quibles about continuinity errors...
that don't have anything to do with SW.

I personally don't want the comics forum for my own use. I don't read comic books. I'm sure I've said this in the past, but it's best to not assume things about people you know little to nothing about.
Anyway, no one would be changing anything for one person. I'm not saying that. I never said that. I don't know where I gave that impression. If someone comes along and starts causing problems with that stuff, it would be dealt with. But why bother with leaving it and hoping that no one starts being an idiot? Why not just deal with it before the problem is even an issue?

Since I don't have access to the Super-Secret-Mod-Forum, could any of you give me an update on what's happening?

Nothing, it seems. I brought the idea up, it sparked a second debate on the pros and cons of a forum existing, and then the thread died off.

I'm not totally against it. I just haven't been convinced yet. rolleyes.gif

Is there really enough comic/webcomic talk to justify it at this point?

I need more information!! biggrin.gif

Comic talk (not necessarily webcomics) has sprung up all over the place. A Jokerfest over at the debate club, a near flame war over best time x-men book in the movie theater, and... a whole bunch of suggestions... yeah.

It's there, I still say that well, wouldn't be any worse then the TV forums tongue.gif.

I would use it for all kinds of crap, like superhero polls and storyline discussions...

So yeah...

The problem is; How many people atcually going to start topics in there? There's been at most 3 topics on the forum, one of which is general comic books stuff, and a few random deviations now and then from other threads. That's not exactly subforum filling stuff.

You might as well just have a general comics thread in the book club.

Well we have 3 options.

1) Make one and see how it turns out

2) Don't make one and leave the comic discussions to go anywhere else

3) Talk about it here for all eternity.
