For me the worst bit of dialogue was that bullshit between Anakin/Padme:

"You're so beautiful."
"That's because I'm so in love."
"No, it's because I'm so in love with you."
"No, it's because I'm a weak-minded moron who fell for a whiny psycho."
"No, it's because I'm a weak-minded psycho who fell for a whiny moron."

Of course that exchange wasn't helped by the fact that Natalie Portman took the opportunity to audition for the role of Scarecrow in Batman Begins by turning around and showing us the most hideous face ever seen in any SW films, nor Hayden's delivery which was so wooden, he made the ENTS in the LOTR film seem like flesh and bone.

But the worst "sound" in the film was that annoying parrot-lizard-iguana hybrid that Obi-Wan was riding. If what that abomination was yelping out every 4 seconds counts as dialogue, then that wins it for me, hands down.

If they gave awards to the most "Hideous Use of CGI on a Motion Picture", I guess we'd have a winner.

I really liked "my little green friend". I really liked "what are we going to do?" and this boy looked so similar to little Anakin.

And many more did.

PALPS:  But its not the first time is it.  Remember what you told me about your mother and the sand people .

This line was included to emphasize the fact that Anakin has had Palpatine as a mentor since he began training on Coruscant. There is a great deal of trust between the two. Anakin can talk to Palpatine about anything.

Extraneous. Could have done without it and the scene would still work, such as it is. It just fires off questions like "What the heck are you doing telling him your business?!"

You could point a blaster at any spot in this movie and hit a howler. sad.gif

WORST:

''Destroy the Sith, we must.''

Yoda says that with no emotion and I find it hilarious.
Sorry, you won't be seeing a smartass sig here. Try with the next poster.

I understand the motive behind it, but if Palpatine had left it "Not the first time though is it" I think we'd still understand what he was getting it.

Star Wars used to have an ounce of subtlety didn't it?

I think much of the dialogue is in tune with George Lucas' "that's the way it is, deal with it" style of writing.

For some reason, and this is a shot in the dark, I believe the scriptwriting was the shortest phase of the production of this movie.

My only explanation is that the entire Star Wars universe underwent a reality shift a la Final Fantasy 8 and that's why the original trilogy is so much different than the prequels. Maybe Obi-Wan travelled to the end of time and battled Darthina Ultimecia before heading off to Tatooine?
