PS- How much does a good Vinyl cost? What about the life span of a Vinyl? How does it compare to CD as far as quality goes?

I've heard a pretty good sized chunk of that album, and I'm not that impressed with it. It's good, but it's nowhere near being a priority for me.

As far as vinyl goes:
Lifespan: Take into account that all of the vinyl I buy is used, still plays well, and is at least 20 years old. CDs have been known to start degrading (the foil coverings come off) after about 15 in some cases.
Sound: No better or worse than a CD. Like any audio medium, you just need a decent stereo to play it through.
Cost: I usually pay around $20 for newer stuff (Like that Melt Banana record I bought last week) and rarely more than $15 for used stuff. $15 is how much I've paid for more rare stuff like "Beatles VI", "Hey Jude" and "Ziggy Stardust". Usually I pay between $1 and $4 for used records.

my two cents:

Many many people swear by the audio mix of a certain album as heard on the orginal vinyl pressings of classic albums. And in many cases i must agree.
Vinyl is known for it's inability to simply degrade over time. they get worn, but they don't degrade if you leave them on the shelf (i think).
If you buy a brand new record, you'll probably only listen to it maybe 20 times in your life. After 20 listens, it's likely you won't hear the wear it's gone through in all that time (as long as you keep it clean).
Hecc is correct - you'll rarely find a used record that's over $15.
And Jordan, since you live in the Van, i know all the shops at your disposal. It's likely you can find ANY used David Bowie and ANY used oldies at all for less than $10. But i've definately paid more than $20 for some albums, but never regretted it.
And if you ever want to beef up your classical collection at virtually no cost, 10-LP box sets are available all over the place at $1 a pop.
In conclusion, buy a turntable and you'll end up saving vast amounts of $$$.

Some CD's

Fiery Furnaces - EP (only $11 new)
John Zorn - Naked City
Melt Banana - teeny Shiny (not the one i wanted first, but good enough)
Glenn Branca - Symphony No. 6
Laika - Silver Apples of the Moon
Laika - Sounds of the Satellites

and, but, also:
Jariten's mix tape!!!! *super-excitement*

Bad news: i heard that A&B Sound is bankrupt. This is some of the most heart-breaking news i've heard in years. You don't understand how great this place is (I think). I don't know when they're closing down, but when it does it'll be a dark day.

"Teeny Shiny" is one of the MB records that I have been looking for somewhat fruitlessly. All I have is "Cell-Scape" and "Speak Squeak Creak".

ahh pressure! I hope you like it.

Escalator Records `in the mix` (mixed by Yukari Fresh). Not only one of the best labels in Japan but also one of the best in the world (according to me). perfect electronic pop. pick up this comp if you can find it.

Recently copied:

Arch Enemy "Anthems of Rebellion"
Korn "Untouchables"

You'd be suprised how hard it is to find "Wages of Sin", by the former, on a students budget on eBay...
